probably a camshaft position sensor. if you do replace it get one from the chrysler dealer as aftermarket cam sensors are prone to failure

are you referring to the starter relay on the firewall? the voltage should drop to 0 when measuring across the signal path because the connection is made, essentially making it a piece of wire and there is no difference in potential between the two points. is there 12v to the starter motor? is the starter solenoid (located on the starter) receiving 12v? check fuses and fusible links. disconnect hot leads from the starter. remove the starter, and supply 12v directly to the motor. does the pinon gear extend and spin? starter.

2001 buick century stalled without warning. tried to restart, but wouldnt crank, no fuel pump noise, no click. had power to radio, heater fan, flashers but not dashboard lights (prndl, fuel gauge).


Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Check fusible links where applicable. Any component that doesn't work and is fuse protected, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite.
The wiring diagram is for starter circuit, you can see the fuses. Any testing for starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. It is possible to jump crank relay to see if starter motor will crank, but, that doesn't mean it will start. Make sure vehicle can't move.

No crank no start no engine code , will start if disconnect battery to reset system


Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good.
Yes, a module resets when you do that, the question is, which module? On the can buss system there are about 15 modules, can one module cause problems for others, yes.
If you have good enough info to locate all those modules and disconnect, one at a time, to see if other systems will work, fine.
You might be able to use manufacturer specific scanner to communicate with modules, to track it down. Those type scanners can be expensive. I don't have one.
Just about anybody here answering questions can crank the starter motor for you, just for testing, but, that doesn't mean it will start and run? If you want to try that, I'll help you.
The problem might be something very simple, but, at the moment, I don't know?
If somebody has a better answer, I'm certainly willing to learn.
Just a thought, if communications problem with modules, there should be a U code. I realize you said there were no codes.

Will not start in cold weather. Battery checks out ok. Will crank but not start. If battery booster is used will fire right off and run good. no computer code.


Your year--make--model didn't post for some reason? It makes it hard to look anything up.
Use a digital multimeter across battery posts, no jump, have helper crank it, how far does the voltage drop? Generic info says it shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts.
With engine cranking, all vehicle systems get battery voltage. Engine running, systems get alternator voltage, that is usually several volts higher.
There could be a voltage drop on the wiring or cables?
You can always check the basics, have helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs, where applicable. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and injector pulse.

The engine not cranking could be several thing's an could involve different control circuits ! The place to start is checking battery connections an doing a voltage drop test . I know ,I know this is something new to you probably ! How handy are you ? mechanically inclined are you ? do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? an if so do you know how to use it ? Second , the battery not hold a charge , you could have what is referred to as a parasitic draw , simply put ,something is not turn off, draining the battery . On vehicles ,even a 2006 model has several electronic control modules , Engine , ABS , Air bags , BCM , an more ! after awhile ,after the key is turned off , these modules power down , or go into sleep mode . Sometimes they don't, an cause the battery to drain . You can check it with the amp meter hooked up in series with negative battery post an negative battery cable , with negative cable disconnected fro the battery ! if NO, those silly dash messages are a waste of time.

ever herd of jumper cable starts, or calling AAA and asking the man do jump start your dead battery?
are headlights dim?
charge your dead battery with a charger?
or replace it with borrowed charged battery?
or if dischanged, and you charge it and it starts now,does the alternator work> and give you, 13.3v to 15v battery voltage
no? then dont drive too far or this will strand you. as battery dies again,



is the battery good, 12.6vdc rested and 11v min, cranking?
if the battery gets too weak, it cranks too slow and voltage falls too much and the ECU/PCM/BCM (brains) will fail and dump lots of codes.
one code is low battery.

Won,t start ..battery was dead..jumped.. Recharged.wont crank

I changed my starter in my 2007 pontiac g6 it still won't start. I checked the battery and the alternator both good. Help!


Is there a SECRUITY light lit on your instrument cluster ? Did you check the starter relay in the under hood fuse / relay center ?
For ignition switch power modes refer to Body Control System Description and Operation . Once the ignition is placed in the Run/Crank position, the control circuit of the Run/Crank relay is grounded by the body control module (BCM). With the Run/Crank relay switch closed, battery positive voltage flows through it and on to the park/neutral position (PNP) switch. With the PNP switch in either the Park or Neutral position, battery positive voltage will flow to the START relay coil supply voltage input terminal of the engine control module (ECM) and the coil side of the START relay. Placing the ignition in the START position sends a message to the ECM requesting engine start. If the ECM has determined that the transmission is in Park or Neutral and theft is not active, it will supply 12 volts to the control circuit of the START relay. Battery positive voltage will then flow through the switch side of the START relay to the S terminal of the starter solenoid, cranking the engine.
I suggest you take this to someone knowledgeable in new car electronics . There is a lot going on here , modules talking to each other on GMLAN serial data communication network . If no anti-theft system problems The BCM sends a message to the PCM on the GMLAN telling it to energize the run / crank relay ! If you knew vehicle systems you could check for power an control of the start relay right at the relay base / socket !

Get the battery and charging system tested. Sounds like the battery does not have any cranking amps. If you have a digital meter check cranking voltage. If it drops below 11 volts when you crank the battery is toast..

My nissan truck is a 2008 xe and it lost power going down the road and i tried to recrank and it will turn over but will not crank.


does itsputter or cough when trying to start? you have me leaning towards timing belt/chain. but if it doesnt sputter there are so meny things it could be at this point< here are a few questions to help us narrow it down, 1 does it sputter or cough when trying to start? 2. do the lights and gauges apper functional, 3 have you checked the fuses and relays under the hood and under the dash? 4 have you wiggled the ignition? i have a chev truck tha every once in a while it needs to be given a swift palm hit right under the ignition,(i checked and know the wiring to my ignition has com loose and still does every once in awhile)
