As far as I know, it is attached to the bottom of the ABS pump. It should be visible by a large connector attached to it.

SOURCE: Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.

See the catalog from Gates at the link. Models listed with a star have interference engines. Presumably, if there is no star, it is a non-interference engine. http://www.gates.com/~/media/files/gates/automotive/catalogs/automotive/timingbeltreplacementguide.pdf?la=en

I always put premium gas in my '02 Volvo V70, can i put regular gas in it or is premium my safest bet?

the car should run perfectly well on both.
the exhaust sensors and management systems should be able to adjust as needed for either fuel.

it is personal choice as to which one you use. millions of cars every day use regular without any noticable effects and without any problems.

use whichever you feel happier with

Transmission service required - how much?

You will need to take the car to a shop that has Volvo Vida and have it scanned. There will be a fault code in the trans control unit. This code will hopefully help the mechanic diagnose the problem and give you an estimate for repair.
