Might want to take it to a car dealership and get that checked out. Either something's still not quite right with your brakes, or your light simply needs resetting. Try consulting the owner's manual.
with diesels there is an injector control module that sometimes causes problems
possible bad harness connections , ground wires so for starters I would be looking in that area after I ran a fault code check

Not a Renault expert, but the ABS system is disabled when the light is on. You should still have normal brakes. The ABS system applies brake pressure to a wheel if it sees that wheel turning faster than the other three. You will need someone to read the codes in the computer on the car.
If its on the left of your abs light, then you most likely need to add some oil. If its on the right of your ABS light, that means you need to check your engine. And based on what you said (as speed goes up, it lights up) could mean that you might have a slight misfire. And a misfire, could be many things, from FUEL to SPARK to AIR. Could be fuel pump, fuel filter, gas cap wasnt tight, spark plugs, spark wires, could be an injector. So, as you see a misfire could interpret into many things.
Now, if you're talking about the warning sign that looks like this (( ! )) then for some reason your E-brake is engaging, try prying on it, and releasing it *while car is at a stop* and/or your e-brake could be lose or too tight, for whatever reason that happened.
I have a 1998 Renault Laguna 2.2DTi and on occasion the ABS warning light comes on. The reason for it is nothing to do with the ABS but the seat belt pretensioner. Where the seat belt clips in, there is a plastic moulding around the seat belt restraint, if you put your hand inbetween the seat cushion and the moulding you will feel various cables - if you play about with them, the warning light will go out!
