Question about Chevrolet Silverado
I recently just bought an 08 chevy silverado ltz and had my emergency break on, did not know to release it there is a lever to pull under the steering wheel. I thought it was like my dads tundra and my moms odyssey that you hit the emergency break again and it releases. I couldn't be so more wrong so when I hit it sparks came out but I eventually found that lever to release the break. Now I realized that my Power seats on both sides and the adjustable foot pedal don't work. Please help me!
Look for broken wires above the pedal and near the release handle.. also, check the fuse panel

sounds like your brake cable has broken or there is something damaged in the pedal assembly.........try pulling on the release handle and move the e-brake pedal back to its off position by hand at the same time.(you may have to tie it in this position to keep it up)If that doesnt work there is a sensor on the pedal assembly that you should be able to bypass by either disconecting the wire(1 wire system) or connecting the two wires together (2 wire system)Especially if your truck is a standard the e-brake is an important safety feature,so if these steps fix the light and dinging problem you should still take the steps to have it repaired.
hope this helps.........Good Luck!

There should be an adjustment point on this cable at either end. Adjust to make the cable shorter and this should solve your problem.

i think the seat control unit controls both items. check the connections at this unit to see if they are still securely attached to the unit.
i didn't know your exact model as i could not find the 08 528i and didn't know if yours was LH or RH drive. take a look at the pic and look for box #1 under the seat.

I had the same problem on my 2003. Open the driver door all the way. Get on your knees just outside the door. Follow the plastic tub that holds the parking brake release cable inside the truck. Start from the release lever and follow to the end of the tube. There will be a metal lever that the cable was attached to before it broke. You have to pull that lever with your hand to release the parking brake. Very Important!!!...Hold the parking brake activation pedal with your other hand when you release the brake. Let the pedal out slowly when you pull the metal release lever. The pedal will come back very fast and you could injure yourself if you are not careful. Good luck!
