Question about 2004 Nissan Maxima

3 Answers

I have a 2004 Nissan maxima. The altinator went out so i replaced it and the battery. One week later, the same problem i had the first time, losing power and car draining the battery, happened. I replaced the altinator and on the way home the car did the exact same thing. What could make the altinator keep going bad?

1. Not sure if a diagnostic check could help sort out problem.
2. Did you get the alternator checked in the car when replaced the second time.

What exactly complaint is? Drained battery or no charge? Please start engine and tell us what voltage readings from battery terminals. It must be higher than 13v at idle.(almost 14v)

The only time I've had a problem with an alternator repeatedly failing is due to improper shimming and the pully wasn't aligned with with the cam and crank shaft which in turn put a tweak in the alternator pully and strain on the bearings. I must point out, this was on a 1978 Chev with V belts. The one that failed a week later, did you have it tested to be sure it failed? Same question for the most recent one. If the alternator are not indeed failing, I'l look to either the ECM or the battery cables/wiring from alternator to battery.

2004 nissan maxima engine code p0021&p1135. Intake valve timing control solenoid has already been replaced. What else could cause this?

I think I answered this a couple of weeks ago on a different Nissan. Both codes are saying the computer can not control valve timing on bank two.
There is a solenoid that uses engine oil flow to adjust valve timing.
If the sensors and solenoid are good, the problem could be lack of oil reaching the solenoid, or a problem with the wiring harness.

I have had my 1996 nissan maxima for a few days and i moved it out of the drive way for my girlfriend to leave and when i went out there about 15 minutes later it wouldnt start. the battery is fine, what...

Sounds like a starter that has given up the ghost to me. However, I would still test the battery and check all of the cable connections before replacing the starter. (Unless you have performed a proper load test on the battery, you really do not know that it is any good.)

2004 maxima - transmission stuck w/engine shut off

It sounds like a tork conveter lockup switch, have the transmisson serviced oil and filter changed then and add Lucas transmisson treatment to help smooth out hte shifting pattern and stop the problem if there was drag on the clutches it may have stalled out.
