1 Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the on position.
2 Press and hold the "program" switch on your Jeep's alarm transmitter.
3 Press any button on the car remote and hold down the "program" switch.
4 Now release both buttons.
5 Press the "program" switch on the Jeep's alarm transmitter one more time and let go of it.
6 Now take the key out of the ignition.
7 Try pressing a button on the remote control to see if it worked.

We are trying to replace the computer on a 1998 jeep cherokee but cant seem to find it ...

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (the computer) is located on the right firewall directly behind the glove box inside the engine compartment. These control modules are somewhat expensive and have to contain the exact part numbers to accomodate all options. These must be programmed by the dealer.

Remote won't unlock door lock

Not to bad. Just need to remove all bolts including the ones behind the control panels, and behind ashtray and the ones in glove box. More time consuming then anything. It may also be the battery in the remote itself. Or the remote needs replacement

Need to disconnect anti teft device. where is it located?

if you activate the anti theft on the jeep because of no remote, you have to lock and unlock the passenger side door twice to disarm it.
it is not easy to bypass the anti theft module.a place that installs alarms would be the best bet.get an after market alarm put in for about the cost of a couple remotes.or if you buy a used remote,it can be re programmed using the obd2 diagnostic unit.

Program keyless remote for 94 Grand Marquis

On this model you will have to open glove box and press the tabs on each side so that you can open it all the way open. You will see a 2 wire grey connector behind it.
Turn ignition switch to run postion then take a paper clip or something like that and momentarily short the 2 wires together.
The door locks should then cycle from lock to unlock.Remove the paper clip then press one of the buttons on each remote. When you press the button on the remote door locks should cycle again to confirm that it programed. Then when finished turn off the ignition switch and door locks should unlock to confirm you have exited programming mode.

1996 Grand Cherokee keyless entry problem

That remote should not be able to  be programmed by you, it needs to be programmed by the dealer using their computer.  I know that some later and earlier models can be programmed by the user, but I did some research on this as i have a 96 as well and it seems the 96 was a dealer computer thing.  If you in fact bought the remote from the dealer they should be willing to program it for FREE.  Otherwise I was given a $30 estimate for the programming.
