1995 ,youjconnect to the pump.via the heater thingy thats just under the filter ,a square black thing with water pipes to it like a heat transfer unit ,think its the return pipe and not water pipes so the return fuel which is warm is cooling by heating the inlet . its not a common rail but a injector pump with a throttle cable old school style ,this is most likely a non turbo version which came out about this time or a year later.I know because i have a 97 endura turbo diesel escort ,fantastic car not fast but its a good old plodder

Find the fuel injector, then trace the fuel rail backwards to the connector, might be a saftey clip on top of the chrome plated's round and needs a special tool to open the spring inside the connector. The link below is for a 3.0L Taurus engine, same connector though.

both the cam gear and the crank gear timing marks should point straight up. if you are replacing your timing belt you may also want to replace your timing belt tensioner and water pump. I have owned several escorts and have learned the hard way that it is a good idea to replace all of these at the same time.

SOURCE: how to install a coolant temp sensor in a 1995 ford escort

The coolant temperature switch and fan control switch are located sie by side, mounted in the steel portion of the heater hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the firewall, it is underneath the air intake tube and the ignition coil pack, mounted to the back of the cylinder head. Either drain out some coolant or be very quick, and you can unplug and unscrew each switch from the hose and replace it with a new one. Make sure the engine is cold. After replacing make sure to check the coolant level add as neccessary. The single wire connector switch is for the guage, and the other is for fan control. Hope this helps, let me know.

Replacing plugs on 2003 Escort ZX2

Instructions1 Pop the hood and locate the fuel rail on the intake manifold. Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve at the end. Push the manual relief valve on the gauge to relieve the fuel pressure in the system.
2 Place a drain pan underneath the center of the engine, on the driver's side by the firewall. Locate the fuel filter, which is on the firewall on the driver's side, toward the backside of the engine.
3 Disconnect the fuel lines running to and from the fuel filter using the pliers and then unbolt the filter from its mounting bracket using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove the old fuel filter and discard it.
4 Set the replacement fuel filter in place. Make sure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the engine and away from the gas tank. Secure it in the fuel filter bracket using the ratchet and then reinstall the fuel lines using the pliers.
5 Start the engine and make sure everything is running correctly.

I replaced the fuel filter on my 1995 F350 ford dually. It ran ok before, but now the fuel pump does not provide enough fuel for the engine to run above idle speed. It starts, runs for about 15 to 25...

Usually on a fuel filter there is an arrow indicating inlet (making sure it was placed on correctly). Can you purge the line by cranking the engine (safely) with out the fuel filter ?. Did you purge the fuel rail ?

Loosing fuel pressure

There should be about 40# of pressure at the fuel rail. If you are getting pressure here, but its not enough to sustain your car's engine, then this sounds like a blocakage in the fuel lines. Have you checked your fuel filter?

My escort has no go power like its getting no gas

Try a fuel filter:
Fuel Filter REMOVAL & INSTALLATION The in-line fuel filter is located in the engine compartment between the fuel tank and the fuel rail.
  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Position a suitable container below the fuel filter to collect any excess fuel that may leak from the filter and lines. CAUTION
Observe all applicable safety precautions when working around fuel. Whenever servicing the fuel system, always work in a well ventilated area. Do not allow fuel spray or vapors to come in contact with a spark or open flame. Keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher near the work area. Always keep fuel in a container specifically designed for fuel storage; also, always properly seal fuel containers to avoid the possibility of fire or explosion.
  4. Remove the retaining clip from the fuel filter upper hose.
  5. Disconnect the upper hose from the fuel filter and drain any excess fuel into the container. Plug the hose.
  6. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  7. Remove the retaining clip from the fuel filter lower hose.
  8. Disconnect the lower hose from the fuel filter and drain any excess fuel into the container. Plug the hose.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Unfasten the filter retaining clamp screw and remove the fuel filter. Fig. 1: The fuel filter is located in the engine compartment, between the fuel tank and fuel rail — 1.9L engine's underside shown 90981p47.jpg

    To install:
  11. Position the fuel filter and tighten the filter mounting clamp.
  12. Remove the plug, then connect the upper hose to the filter and install the hose retaining clip.
  13. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  14. Remove the plug, connect the lower hose to the filter and install the hose retaining clip.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.
  17. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Turn over but wont start

check the timing belt to ensure it is still connected, then check for fuel at the rail by pressing the valve on the rail in and see if fuel comes out, and spark, by placing a screwdriver in the end of one of the plug wires, hold it close to the valve cover while a friend cranks the engine do you see a spark? do you have fuel? is the timing belt still connected? any of these can cause the problem, hope this, helps let me know
