Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante brake lights aren't coming on when I step on the pedal. Changed all the fuses just to make sure all are good but still no lights when I hit the pedal. Could the switch on the pedal go bad or cause problem?

SOURCE: Where is the brake light switch on a 1997 nissan pathfinder?

The brake switch is mounted high on the brake pedal. A 14mm nut holds it in place. Don't mistake it for the cruise switch if so equipped.

My brake lights dont work but the tail lights come on when I turn on the headlights.

Check fuses first. Should be a fuse labeled 'Stop' or 'Brake'.

If fuses are good, climb under the dash and look at the brake switch, it's high up on the brake lever. Make sure it is operated by pressing in the brake pedal.

Brake lights aren't working changed fuses and bulbs could it be the turn signal light switch?

the turn signal light switch has nothing to do with the brake lights, the problem is most likely the brake light switch which you should find around the area of the brake pedal it may be faulty or has come loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened back up........hope this helps......cheers.

Hi:
The brake master cylinder is mounted to the back wall of the engine compartment, on the drivers side. It is almost directly in front of your brake pedal!
