Why is the key stuck in the ignition even in key switched off and lock position
Put key in accesary position and disconnect battery - pull steering wheel plastics off - looking at Ignition cylinder you will find a round pin - push round pin with nail while pulling at key cylinder - Replace cylinder and Key it comes as an assembly from your local Auto Parts Store. There is also a Video on YouTube its called how to replace a Ford Ignition

Ignition tumblers are sticking. at this point best to replace ignition as most of the time it will fail again as the parts are warn out. as long as the key still turns in ignition it will be cheaper to fix.

SOURCE: key gets stuck in ignition
My daughter drives a Suzuki, my solution to her is: while the gear shift lever is in park, lightly put pressure on the gear shift lever, through the park position and while pressing the gear shift towards park light rock left to right while trying to remove the key.
The interlock between the transmission and the ignition switch needs to be adjusted/ repaired or replaced.

1st Remove Battery cable from Battery because the only time the air bags will deploy is when the key is in the ignition. I have tilt steering and when I put the steering wheel in the up most position. I came right out. But now it seems to stick more lately.

had this problem myself recently and i had to remove steering wheel and side covers remove shear bolts from lock housing using a smal chisel that lets you lake of lock housing and steering lock to replace them your local bm dealer should be able to order the correct one to fit your key, your car will still run with key out but you have to insert it to start it.

Your tumblers are worn. You can "Bump" the lock to get it to work, but this is a very temporary fix. To bump the lock, simply tap on the end of the key with something heavy like a short 2X4 , the heal of a shoe or something similar - while in the ignition while attempting to turn the key to the start position. DO NOT turn the engine back of until you get the car home or to a repair facility.
