It is a special code that is inbuilt into radios to make them inoperative when the power is disconnected ( stolen) On reconnecting the power you have to enter the code back into the radio to prove that you in fact own the radio before it will work again. Codes can be obtained from the service dealer that sold the vehicle. the book that came with the radio or from the web where you have to list the make /model to get the code.
