I have a 2000 zx9r with 17013 miles on it. I am having problems with it misfiring. I have changed all plugs and all are firing. What could be causing this to happen?

Check the resistance of the plug wire end caps that connect to the plugs, if it is too high they can cause miss fires. they may indicate firing but not getting all the voltage. also check for a fuel problem, ex: not enough fuel entering the cylinders. another thing to check is cylinder compression and valve adjustment.

I will definitely have to check the resistance in the plug wire end caps. Just after I changed all my plugs I went ahead and recleaned my carbs because that is what that to happen.

A misfire doesn't always have to be ignition... it's just the most common cause. Faulty or plugged injector, low compression. You need to check fuel pressure and test the fuel injector flow. Then check compression. If you don't have tools for these tests, take it to someone who does. Testing is much cheaper than throwing parts at the problem.

2000 ford ranger misfire and running lean bank 1 and 2

Fix the misfire. The Car is running lean to protect the catalytic converter because of the miss fire in that cylinder or cylinders the fuel is not being burned. Which can damage the cat.

Missing,viborating

Misfire could be a number of things:
a) spark plugs - change them if used over 15K miles - inspect/regap.
b) spark plug wires - change them if over 15K miles - inspect
c) ECM (electronic control module) - test with HEI (high energy ignition) tester.

The vibrating tells me that the engine is running on less than its normal compliment of cylinders - the shaking is produced by the imbalance caused in the engine by one (or more) cylinder(s)
not firing at all.

The "Check Engine" light probably is coming on due the the misfire condition. Go to Pep Boys or
Advance Auto Pats, where they'll tell you (free) your codes causing the "Check Engine' light to be
lit - the code coming from your truck's computer will probably be one or more of:
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder misfire detected
P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected
P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected

# 6 cylinder misfire. 88300 miles. should I do tune up?

A misfire can be caused by many thing, most common is a defective ignition coil or defective fuel injector, the plugs last well over 100,000 miles so unless you disturbed them they should be ok. Your first tune is at 100,000 miles as stated in the owners manual under maintenance. Engine problems can also cause a misfire, these include a vacuum leak at the intake manifold or a burned valve.

Misfiring on the 1 and 3 cyclinder. need firing order to figure out what is causing it. Do you know firing order or what could cause misfire?

Misfire could be caused from bad plugs, plug wires, coils, injectors or fuel pressure. How many miles on the plugs and wires? Were the plugs gapped correctly? Time for a tune-up? You can get the parts you need as well as firing order and diagragm to show which cylinder is 1, 2, 3, 4,5 and 6 at Auto Zone.

Rotten egg smell after new plugs and wires seems to miss now

did he gap the plugs properly? sulfur smell comes from excess fuel being dumped into the exhaust (catalytic converter). Could be the coil, or improperly gapped plugs. If the wires were out of order, there would be a misfire.

P0300 is a random misfire code, if you are not mechanically inclined the first thing i would do if you havent done so in the past year or more, is change the plugs and wires, a random misfire code can be caused by worn plugs and/or wires not firing properly. let me know if that fixes it.
