Question about Cars & Trucks
When i left for work my lexus ls 400 ran great. I got about 3 miles down the road and went down a street with 3 speed bumps & it was still running great. when I pulled up to the stop sign it went to a real rough idle like the engine was misfiring on several cylinders. i checked most of the plug connectors & wiring. so far all that seems to be ok. i'm stuck now. can somebody please HELP
First thing to do is to have the fault codes read to find which sensor is faulty

If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.

Sounds like either the ignition module and or a coil pack is the culprit. I dont remember what year they changed it but if your is the one where the coil packs/module are located on the back of the motor they are a little tricky to get to. You need to remove dog bone mount and replace with a tool that will pull the motor forward so you can gain easier access...good luck. Hopefully yours are right on the top where they should have been since day one... :-)

Sounds like a bad fuel injector. Shop would need to run a contribution test to confirm. I must say, good detective work, good luck.

this vehicle has coil packs for the ignition correct? have you ran the engine at night with all surrounding lights outs so its really dark. spray a mist of water on the coil packs and spark plug wires to see if you have spark/voltage leaks jumping out from them. sometimes the tiny sparks will be so fine and skinny you can barely see them so it needs to be dark. hope this helps your trouble shooting. a coil pack could have such a fine crack for the voltage to leak from that you cant see it.

SOURCE: 2004 Neon SXT cylinder misfire
TRY REPLACING THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR..HAVE SEEN THESE CAUSE MISFIRES AND LOW VOLTAGE DTCS AS PCM THINKS VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING..ALTERNATOR MAY NOT BE PUTTING OUT PROPERLY
