It should not be a problem as long as it is not exposed to excess heat or static electricity.

Why do some driver airbags have 1 connector and some have 2 connectors

The automobile manufacturer had engineers who designed the cars to their specifications. The company making the airbags also had engineers and specifications. At some point in time, it was decided which airbag was appropriate for each car. American carmakers rode heavily on cost, whilst foreign carmakers considered quality more necessary.

Airbag light blinking in pattern of 7 What does this mean

Airbag system failures are covered by most automobile manufacturers for extended periods after the car's warranty has expired. Check with your local dealership to see if they can help you with the airbag system, as most manufacturers will reimburse their dealerships for issues concerning safety equipment, such as airbags.

I have an 02 dodge ram and the air bag light comes on when turnin

It sounds like the clockspring is defective. It should have a stored code in the airbag module for "drivers squib circuit open". A new clockspring should take care of it. Disconnect the battery, remove the steering wheel and the upper and lower column shouds to gain access. After reassembly, turn the key on first before reconnecting the battery. That way if something went wrong with the repair and the airbag accidently deploys, you will be outside the vehicle safe from injury. I hope this helps.

Coil will not spark

If you know where the two wires that went on the old coil were (are) turn the key on and check each for voltage. the one carrying 12v goes to the one marked (+) on the coil. the other wire goes to the (-) side.
Sure wish todays cars were that easy!

Steering

Hi

This is a bit of a task, so I hope you're feeling brave! And I'm doing this from memory so bear with me!

First of all, disconnect the battery negative lead and then have a cup of coffee for 20 mins or so to give the airbag a chance to disarm.

Next, remove the upper and lower steering column plastic cowelling, unplug the airbag wiring, and then put the key in the ignition and release the steering lock.

Now, look at the back of the steering wheel around where the steering columnn goes in or thereabouts. You should see a number of bolts or screws which can be accessed one at a time by turning the steering wheel to bring each one into view. These are holding the airbag unit onto the steering wheel.

Undo and remove them all and then VERY CAREFULLY remove the airbag unit from the front of the steering wheel, and carry it with the airbag facing AWAY from you, and put it somwhere safe, FACE UP.

You should now have access to the steering wheel nut and its straight forward from here on, but remember, you will no longer have a drivers airbag, and you may need to have the light put out when the ECU realises you have removed the airbag.

Very best regards

Geordie
