it would not hurt to check rear tire wear due to misalignment
cupped tires will cause a faulty bearing type noise or humming.

SOURCE: Front end noise

Sounds like rust build up on the rotors, this is a common problem with after market rotors,or it is a squealer tab and they squeal to warn you before damage is done to the rotors when brake pads are 2/3 worn down.have a brake inspection done.

SOURCE: 2005 Equinox noise from front end/brakes

I had the same problem with mine at about 20000 miles, took it to dealer and they told me it was a common problem for the mounting bushing for the caliper to go bad.Dealer replaced them and less than 5000 miles later had same problem, they ordered new brackets with new bushings to mount calipers and have had no problems since at 41000 and still have original pads and rotors have not been turned. Don't know if they will do anything after warrantee but mounting bushings are easy to replace and not expensive.

Because the whine is still happening at high speed when your in neutral and low rpms it should not be engine or tranny related. I would start looking at wheel related issues. Hubs probably.

I have a grinding noise coming from, what sounds like to me, the front passenger side tire. you will hear it as you as you gain speed, and the sound basically gets louder and faster, the faster you go....

Change both front Wheel Hub Bearings

You know the left is bad, so why tells us
change it

The brake wear is from not doing brake work
often enough,no rust removal,no lubing of of
any moving parts

The right side was basically rusted & frozen in place
& not releasing, the repair shops don't do much in that
area, need to do your own work

Take brakes apart once or twice a year

How to adjust rocker arms on 05 chevy equinox

already ?
the standard procedure for adjusting rocker arms on some cars is to adjust them with the engine running. but this is messy.
loosen the nut until you hear clicking n tapping noise, stop.
now turn the nut Tighter a little at a time until you hear the noise stop, then turn the nut 1/4 turn more and move on to next rocker.

this only applies if you have pushrods.

WHEEL BEARING USUALLY STARTS MAKING A ROARING TYPE NOISE WHICH USUALLY GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU DRIVE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE LOOSE , TO CHECK JACK UP THAT WHEEL AND GRAB TOP AND BOTTOM OF TIRE AND SHAKE, IF THERE IS MOVEMENT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE TO ROCK TIRE FOR YPU AND WATCH WHERE AXLE GOES INTO CENTER OF BEARING AND SEE IF AXLE IS MOVING WITH TIRE MOVEMENT AND SPINDLE REMAINS STATIONARY, THEN IT IS BAD BEARING, OR SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT, THEN BLOCK REAR WHEELS AND RUN CAR WITH THAT WHEEL IN AIR AND SEE IF YOU HEAR NOISE, GOOD LUCK.
