Reset oil change milage

GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 16 000 km (10,000 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 16 000 km (10,000 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.

Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed, use the following procedure:
  1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
  2. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
  3. If the Change Oil Soon light flashes, the system is resetting.
  4. Start the vehicle.
  5. The oil life will change to 100%.
  6. If the Change Oil Soon light comes back on, the system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

How often do u have to change your oil according to the manufacture

I would change my oil every 3,000 miles thats the normal usually, however with some manufacturers they say you can go longer, if you use a synthetic oil you can go longer then 3,000 however if your using conventional oil id change it every 3,000 it will keep the inside of your engine clean and not allow any dirt or sludge to build up....

That's for newer car, does not apply to yours, keep doing oil changes, every 3,000 miles or 3 months.

HOW OFTEN YOU HAVE CHANGED OIL?

the accepted mileage is 3,000, the car manufacturer's often recommend higher, but if you want the engine to last change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles.

Engine knocking

the most common issue is what is called piston slap, GM's official stance is that it will not cause any long term damage, in other words it is just annoying, my Corvette has the same noise, goes away in about 2 miles, had it to the dealer and that is what they said, and i agree with them because it has never gotten any worse after years or hard use/.
