I keep getting a p1320 code on my 2000 nissan maxima


The most common cause that will trigger the P1320 code is the ignition coils, one or more ignition coils may have failed. Even tough the coils may be working OK, the resistance for one or more of the coils is greater or smaller than the Engine Control Module (ECM) is expecting. Measuring the resistance with the coil out of the vehicle may not show any failures, usually the coil fails under heavy conditions (hard acceleration) or certain temperatures.

The P1320 code means that there is problem with the "Ignition Coil" or the wire to the ignition coil. For some models without individual ignition coils the Ignition Coil is inside the distributor and the distributor need to be replaced to fix the problem.

Car turns over but i'm getting no spark what could cause that or how do i fix that so i get spark


Start with the ignition coil. It should have power to it with key on. Should be battery voltage on the primary circuit to the coil-that's the coil positive terminal. If the coil is good, it could be a bad ignition module-the module cuts primary current to the coil when commanded by the engine computer.
It could be several things-fouled plugs, bad plug wires, cracked distributor cap, bad rotor, crank sensor or pick up coil (inside the distributor), pcm. Test the ignition coil, or try a known good coil.

You will need to inspect the inside of the spark plug well, did oil from a leaking valve cover soak the plug wire.also check the distributor,inside there is the ignition coil.make sure the top part of the coil is not cracked.

Engine is turning over,but not starting


first, test for spark at the ignition coil. take the power cable that connects from the ignition coil and disconnect the end at the distributor. hold the bare connecting end a fraction of an inch away from a metal paqrt of the cars frame and attempt to start. if the ignition coil is good, it should throw a spark. if the ignition coil sparks, next check your spark plugs for oil, grime, black or white discoloration on the spark tips (that point inside the engine). if there is a lot of build up or discoloration, replace the spark plugs. if this does not solve it, change your distributor cap, and if this doesnt slove it, change your spark plug wires.

Where would the pvc value be on a 300 chrysler 2006? also where would the spark plugs be located?


Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PVC) Valve Removal & Installation 5.7L Engine To Remove:
    1.The PCV valve is mounted into the top/right side of the intake manifold.

    2.The PCV valve is sealed to the intake manifold with two O-rings.

    3.Free the PCV valve by rotating counter-clockwise 90 degrees until the locating tabs align with the openings on the manifold.

    4.Remove the PCV valve by pulling straight up from intake manifold and clearing the tabs.

    5.Check the condition of two valve O-rings.
To Install:
  1. Clean the PCV valve opening on the intake manifold.
  2. Inspect the PCV valve O-rings. Replace if suspect.
  3. Apply engine oil to the two O-rings.
  4. Place the PCV valve into intake manifold.
  5. Rotate the valve 90 degrees clockwise for installation.
6.1L Engine To Remove:
  1. The PCV valve is threaded into the right-front corner of the intake manifold.
  2. Remove the rubber hose from the PCV valve.
  3. Unscrew the PCV valve from the intake manifold.
To Install:
  1. Clean the PCV valve opening on the intake manifold.
  2. Check the condition of the PCV valve O-ring. Replace if suspect.
  3. Check the condition of the PCV valve threads and clean if necessary.
  4. Apply engine oil to the O-ring.
  5. Install the PCV valve into intake manifold.
  6. Install the rubber hose to the PCV valve.

The spark plugs should lead to the coil pack via a spark plug wire but may be hidden by a plastic cover.

The following details the ignition coil changing on the Chrysler 300:

2.7L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the intake manifold.
  3. Use compressed air to clear the area around the ignition coil and spark plug.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  5. Remove the two fasteners securing the ignition coil.
  6. Remove the ignition coil.
To Install:
  1. Install the ignition coil.
  2. Tighten the fasteners to 55 in-lb (6.2 Nm).
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the ignition coil.
  4. Install the intake manifold.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
3.5L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the intake manifold.
  3. Use compressed air to clear the area around the ignition coil and spark plug.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil. NOTE: Loosen the ignition coil fasteners by alternating back and forth. Do not lose the spacers under the coil when loosening the fasteners.
  5. Remove the two fasteners securing the ignition coil.
  6. Remove the ignition coil.
To Install:
NOTE: Tighten the ignition coil fasteners by alternating back and forth. Do not lose the spacers under the coil when installing the coil.
  1. Install the ignition coil.
  2. Tighten the fasteners to 60 in-lb (6.7 Nm).
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the ignition coil.
  4. Install the intake manifold.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
5.7L Engine (2005) To Remove:
NOTE: Carefully note the position of each spark plug cable before disconnecting them so they can be installed in their original positions to prevent misfire.
NOTE: The throttle body intake air duct or intake air box may need to be removed to gain access to certain ignition coils.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  2. Remove the secondary ignition cable from the coil.
  3. Use compressed air to clear the area around the ignition coil.
  4. Remove the two fasteners securing the ignition coil. Bolts are retained to coil.
  5. Remove the ignition coil. Pull with a slight twisting motion to help release the boot seal with the spark plugs.
To Install:
NOTE: Apply a light film of dielectric grease to the inside of the coil boots before installation.
  1. Clean area around spark plug and coil mounting area with compressed air.
  2. Install the ignition coil.
  3. Tighten the fasteners to 105 in-lb (12 Nm).
  4. Connect the electrical connector to the ignition coil.
  5. Connect the secondary ignition cable to the coil.
  6. Install the air duct or air box if removed.

NOTE: Each ignition coil, mounted on the valve cover, fires two spark plugs at each cylinder.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Use compressed air to clear the area around the ignition coil and spark plug.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  4. Remove the two fasteners securing the ignition coil.
  5. Remove the ignition coil. Pull with a slight twisting motion to help release the boot seal with the spark plugs.
To Install:

I have a 1990 Nissan California Wagon, 1.5L 12Valve 4cyl Gas engine. I'm not too sure if it's the ignition coil, my engine cannot start on one (1) turn of the key, you need two or more or with a blip of...


If the coil is leaking oil, replace it. I'm not saying this will fix the car, but the coil should not leak oil. It's possible a crack in the coil will cause sparks to jump to the coil terminal rather than to the spark plugs. If you want to troubleshoot, have someone try to start the car while you watch/liosten at the coil to see if the sparks are leaking out to the terminal. If yes, perhaps the coil is your only problem.

Try this...

You need to check for spark at the number 1 spark plug if no spark then it could be a few things
1.crank shaft position sensor
2. distributor cap or plugs
3. pick up coil inside distributor
4. ignition coil
5.ignition module
6.Blowen fuse check both engine fuses and inside cab fuses
7. oil pressure switch
You can pull the coil wire going into the distributor cap and check for spark there if no spark there then your problem will be from the ignition coil back

I have a 2005 Lincoln LS with an intermittent problem with ignition coils. The "Check Engine" light comes on and each time it show a code for a faulty engine coil, but each time it shows a different coil....


I have a lincoln ls 2002 and have had the same problems. It is corrected by changing the valve cover gaskets. The oil leaks down into the coils and fouls them out. You will not see the oil around the valve covers on the outside but this should fix the problem. It worked for me
