Check that the engine light coming on is in fact a warning light telling you that you have reached max road speed allowable . By putting the foot down you are telling the ECM to ignore the setting and to increase the available power to go faster ( as in passing ) run the fault codes to check for sensor problem and talk to a service dealer as to the reason as there may be an upgrade for the CPU software in the ECM.

I have a 98 isuzu rodeo and it wont stay running unless I keep my foot on the gas. The check engine light isnt on so I have no clue what to do, can anyone give me some suggestions please?

hot or cold engine,or both????????????????????
sure...
the ECU works OVERTIME; hard, to keep the engine running.
this is done by the action of the ISC valve.
so can you keep it running with a fast right foot??????????
a real mech needs to drive car.
does it have full power on hills?
is the tune up service done, the 60kmile repeats and needs to be done.
the ECU can not keep idle right on any engine that runs like crappppppp.

1: all fuses good.
2: engine never warms to normal 180F+ temp and hold???
3: not tuned up.
4: engine misfiring.
5: engine flooding.
6: engine starving for fuel.
7: OMG, the ISC wires fell off, (inspections do work on old cars)

there are simple tests. for each case.
one more #8. EFI system lost 12vdc power. stalls.

I have a 05 diesel excursion an lately it's real hard to get into reverse even thou you press on the brake as hard as you can plus the cruise seems to be sticking after you set it if you press on

Make sure the brake lights are coming on when this occurs,i think you may have a problem there based on the symptoms of the gear selector and the cruise control.

I have a 2001 holden rodeo turbo diesel and only just got the clutch and pressure plate replaced two days ago and now when you put your foot on the clutch it feels as though you are putting your foot on...

possibly air trapped in hydraulic clutch system causes pedal to go low and hard like brake pedal,
bleed from bleed nipple on firewall (bulkhead) under bonnet, left side of vehicle then under neath at slave cylinder.
when left for a while or turn vehicle off it comes good again due to air in line shifts position
these can be tricky to bleed also due to pedal doesnt come up when bleeding must pull up with foot or hand do it slowly and pump it for a while before opening bleeder nipple again.
hopefully you put the clutch fork in the right way again if you replaced the thrust bearing and the bearing itself depending on engine configuration.

My car shakes when am stopped only in drive or reverse. it stops when i am going at a faster speed what could be the problem

I think the first step is to check the engine mounts.Open the hood, put your foot on the brake hard, put the car into reverse, rev the engine, and have someone watch the movement of the engine. You are going to need both feet for this. The engine should move no more than an inch.Have the person stand off to the side and repeat the procedure in drive. Hope this is it.Good luck

On 10-2-10 I had driven 3 hours with my cruise control on at 60 MPG. I can upon a slow moving vechicle so I moved to the left lane to pass. I noticed an oncoming car, so I pushed the gas pedal (not hard)...

I would try to get hold of the main Customer Service @ 1-800-392-FORD. They may be better at assisting you. You can also inquire if there are alerts at the NHTSA.

The NHTSA is the government safety watchdog. You can check about reports on your model car at NHTSA.com. Please refine your story and change the MPG to MPH or Miles per Hour. Also in reading about the engine racing to 100MPG, even changing that to 100 MPH is confusing to me. You want to sound as credible as you can and unless you were driving down the road at 100 MPH for 4 times you would not know how fast the engine was running. You will be better off saying "the throttle was stuck wide open until you restarted the engine the fifth time.".

This was certainly a dangerous occurrence. There were 3 failures here. The first, when the OFF control did not work in Cruise, the second, when the brake did not disengage the Cuise and the third, when the Ignition switch did not kill the Cruise. This means the Cruise has found a new power source or it is another problem.

There was a recall for some models for their Cruise controls but the Dealer should have checked that. It is possible that the problem is a bad TPS (throttle position sensor), binding linkage, or a worn throttle body and not the Cruise control at all. When you put your foot down, the moving parts probably were never opened that far unless you always drive 97MPH. So the parts stuck open due to dirt, wear, rust, and had nothing to do with the Cruise. Now a mechanic has to find the cause.

2005 f250, 6.0 diesel overheats when towing a 8000lb camper with the cruise control on

Turn cruise control off. You should never use cruise control when pulling a heavy load. It puts more strain on the transmission and engine.

Engine light comes on and wont go faster than 90 kms per hour back speed off and light gos off

the engine light is a run safe feature. it could meen low oil, fuel blockage, low coolant and, if diesel, water in fuel filter.
Check all levels, and if ok, it colud be something more serious like oil pump, water pump or oil filter.

My Cruise Control Wont work, is there a special way to turn on the cruise, because the sign for cruise comes up but it doesnt cruise

First, your car must be in gear and driving approx more than 60 km an hour
Secondly, using the Cruise Stalk switch turn the Cruise on, the dash should now have a lit icon for cruise power (green).
Once you have the desired speed, gently press the button on the end of the cruise in to set your speed. Remove foot from throttle and confirm cruise is active. Another dash light should come on as well (orange)

Failing that, if it doesnt work the usual suspect like fuses and the brake pedal micro switch should be looked at...
