The choke light will come on when the choke is on i assume its electric choke if the choke is on vehicle would run poorly flood out and stall if vehicle runs fine then its in the electrics of the choke switch or a bad wire to the choke that says its on even when its not i would start there first.

SOURCE: engine choking?

Is the check engine light on? If it is, take it to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve any fault code(s) stored in the car's computer. The codes will help narrow down what the problem may be. It could be a faulty throttle position sensor or another problem. To end the speculation, have the fault codes read. Hope this helped and best wishes.

My choke light stays on my 84 pontiac trans am. Why does this occurr and how can i fix this problem?

I bevieve that year is 305 or 350 with Throttle body injection so remove air cleaner cover start car allow to warm up then see if plate below main injector opens when engine is revved ..if it does then be sure it is partially open at idle .. check wiring underside of air cleaner / loose / heat damaged -----Or if Aftermarket air cleaner then unplugged wires from factory must be looped to create all ok signal .....The Throttle plate at base of unit or old style carb can wear creating unstable idle or choke light signal due to inconsistant air flow ..

Whys my 83 firebird stuck in 2nd gear

I don't think a 1983 model would have much connected between the trans and the computer like models built since 2000.
If you only have second gear in any drive position, I would think something is stuck in the trans.
I'm assuming you have checked the fluid level.

I was driving my 1989 firebird and allof a sudden it would not shift out of first, all was normal be fore that. Every thing looks normal.

Some transmissions have a limp home mode which locks the transmission into a low gear to get them to a garage or home if home is not too far away.
You may find that there is a fault in your transmission, if there is you should take it to an auto trans workshop and have it checked

Choke light stays on in 84 K5 blazer

This might be a sign of low oil pressure. The choke light runs in conjunction with the oil pressure circuit therefore a deficit or problem in the oil pressure signal could subsequently create this choke light.Low oil level can cause this.
