Question about 2008 Dodge Nitro
I have a 2008 Dodge Nitro and I got in it the other day and all lights and door chimes work, battery is good but it will not even make a noise when I turn over the key. Does any know what the problem could be?
Could be a problem with the anti-theft system, the starter itself, the wires to the starter (they sometimes get loose, and even become unplugged from eng. vibration) Starter relay, neutral switch, there are an awful lot of things it could be. Try to put it into neutral when you start it, (or push very hard on the clutch pedal!) There are too many variables. A battery can do this too. Just because it has 12 volts, it may no longer have amperage available, so your lights would show on, but the starter wouldn\'t do anything

SOURCE: dodge nitro fuel cap
You stated "key in and key out", I'm assuming that your car has a locking gas cap. If that's the case, turn the key to the right (clockwise), once the key stops, hold it in the far right position with your right hand, then grab the gas cap with your left hand and turn it clockwise. That should do it. Hope this helps. If I was able to FixYa, please rate my answer. Thanks.

Could be the transmisson chain, take it in for service, and though you did say it sounded like a bus I have heard many bus's and they sounded normal so am not sure what your saying.

Have it checked for trouble codes sounds like it could be an injector problem or something as serious as a loose rocker, maybe try a crank&cam shaft position sensors

Directions are in the book, but you would put the key in and turn it all the way, just don't start engine. Pump gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times slowly, but it has to be with 10 seconds. Turn key off and when you start again, oil changed chime and warning should not be on. If it is, try again.
