I have change the fuel pump on two occasion it did not work.I remove the melted element from the catalyst and place it back but same story

All of these p1131 p1151 p0171 p0174 codes indicate a problem with a lean condition. This engine is known for vacuum leaks, so before you start throwing oxygen sensors at the problem, it pays to perform some diagnostics.
Start by cleaning the MAF sensor. Spray the sensor with CRC MAF sensor cleaner. Next, check the plastic vacuum lines, especially where they meet with rubber boots. If they are cracked or the rubber is swollen, replace the line. Then check the rubber elbow that holds the PCV valve. That elbow is a know failure point. In fact, the entire PCV tubing is a trouble spot on these engines. (thanks Ford).
After you've checked for vacuum leaks, check the operation of the oxygen sensors. The easiest way to do that is to disconnect the sensor from the harness. Connect one lead of your digital voltmeter to the black wire on the sensor and the other lead to battery negative. Then start the engine and add fuel (either propane, starting fluid, or carb cleaner) into the throttle body to force the mixture to rich. You should see a corresponding increase in voltage as you add fuel (from 0 volts to slightly less than 1 volt). Start and stop the fuel enrichment and watch the meter to see if the volts drop as you stop adding fuel. If you see no change, the sensor is dead. Replace it.
You can also use the fuel enrichment procedure to locate intake gasket leaks.

Tried getting ford f150 4.2 2003 inspected. Replaced air filter and fuel filter already. Check engine lit was on before replacing them . Now check engine light is out . But won't pass inspection.

Last week I had the very same catalyst, evap and ECG codes come up on my 1999 Mercury Mystique which is like a Ford Taurus. A friend was able to find a hole or leak in the hose connected, replaced it and it runs fine. I havent run it a full and straight 50 miles yet to clear the check engine light but that repair alone changed the entire way the car was poorly driving. Im sure that hasnt fixed all the probs but thats a good starting point.

If you have one or two front upstream sensors & have 100,000 miles
on them, replace them as preventative maintenance

The codes are for an Oxygen Sensor closest to the engine,
on the side #1 Cylinder is on

Sensor Codes could be caused buy a leaking injector,
low fuel pressure,running out of fuel,EGR problem,Exhaust
leaks before sensor or converter,any vacuum leak,& other issues

Remove the spark plugs to see if they are fouled from fuel

You can not fix an injector with any fuel tank additive
They have to be removed & mailed away to be cleaned
if they stick open,you could install one if it leaks & is the
only issue.

How to troubleshoot P1131 error code per OBD


Hi there:DTC P1131 HYUNDAI - Injection Quantity Adjust, this means that the fuel/air ratio is correcting rich for an overly lean condition.
Generally is lack of O2 switching/reading lean bank 1 sensor 1 (passenger side front/upstream sensor). It's either a lazy O2 sensor, vacuum leak, or low fuel. A scan tool that can read pids or live data will be helpfull so you can see the O2 sensor voltage on both sides as well as the fuel trims to see how the engine is running. You can try to spray some carb cleaner around the intake and vacuum lines to see if the rpm changes. If it does then you may have found a vacuum leak causing the code.

My gfs 1999 blazer starts up, revs very high then shuts down. Any suggestions?


Sounds like a possible lack of fuel problem. Remove air intake hose from front of throttle body, then try spraying (carefully ) a little WD-40 into front of throttle body when it starts just to see if it will keep it running a little longer. If it does, your lacking proper fuel supply. Do you hear pump cycle (hum) when you turn the key to on position? I guess a good place to start if it is lack of fuel would be to change fuel filter. If it turns out to be something worse like pump, your going to want that filter changed anyway.

A Heated Exhaust Oxygen (HO2S) sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.
A code P1131 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Electrical:
  • Short to VPWR in the harness or HO2S
  • Water in the harness connector
  • Open/shorted HO2S circuit
  • Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
  • Damaged HO2S
  • Damaged PCM
Fuel System:
  • Excessive fuel pressure
    Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors
    Leaking fuel pressure regulator
    Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
    Vapor recovery system
Induction System:
  • Air leaks after the MAF
  • Vacuum Leaks
PCV system:
  • Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
