SOURCE: my van when pressing on gas pedal jerks while

could be two things, 1; the coil is going bad. 2; the electronic egr valve has a piece of carbon in it. the latter is probably the problem. to fix this , just remove the valve, push on the piston and while holding it in the open position, spray with carb cleaner and blow it out, release the piston and be sure the valve is closing all the way. if the gasket is damaged you can get a new one at the parts store.

did you check the timing? the firing order.
does the engine rpm rev up high? if it does then check the transmsission for low on fluid or slipping.

My 1992 chevy g20 van surges and i'm not sure exactly why. I changed the pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. What are some possibilities

My first thought would be a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. Rubber hoses get brittle with age and even a small crack in a hose may cause surging. Happened to me in a Lumina.

Van seems to run fine at idle but cant pick up speed seems to be starving for air or fuel when stepping on it

start with changing the fuel filter and the air filter. if thats not the cure then have the fuel pressure checked. the fuel pump may be going out.

Fuel pump is the most likely fault here, it is in the gas tank on most cars but a few on mounted to the frame.....

Starts fine, but then bogs out when accelerating, practicaly have to give it no gas and creep up to speed.Doesn't want to go up hills. Just replaced the cpi, fuel filter and fuel pump 3 months ago. Also...

Check the fuel pressure regulator and the EGR valve, I would check the fuel pressure regulator first and go from there. Good luck and keep me posted. Not sure what the pressure should be but thinking it's 62 to 65 PSI upon start up and should drop 5 PSI when engine running, check the vacuum line to the regulator.

1998 Safari Van won't start. It turns over, the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced a month ago but it sounds like it's not getting any fuel. I disonnected the fuel filter and fuel is coming out ok. What do...

check the schrader valve (the one that looks like a tire valve) in the fuel line/rail at the engine, and see if you're getting gas there - simply push it in, and gas should flow out - careful, when the pump is running, there should be considerable (40psi) pressure there. Let me know what you find.

Check your spark plugs. That could be one of the reasons. Or are you sure you purchased the proper Fuel pump?
