Question about 2000 GMC Jimmy

I got a 2000 gmc Jimmy no start, no spark and diagnostic computer says no link or communication from pcm. Any ideas? I did check all the fuses and the wiring to the distributor, crank sensor, ignition module and fuel pump.

If vehicle has been submerged, PCM is likely dead. If vehicle has been struck by lightning, PCM could be locked up or dead. Assuming none of these has happened:
Check power to PCM, not just fuses. You can check through the backside of the connectors ON the PCM.
Check connectors on PCM.
Check ground to PCM.
Make sure you've had no rodent activity on vehicle wiring.
Reset PCM by disconnecting battery (+) lead, waiting 15 seconds, then grounding battery (+) to battery (-) lead. Reconnect battery (+) lead to battery. All user memory sets such as radio and seat settings will be lost.
With no output from PCM, after resetting, the highest probability is dead PCM. It's rare, but it happens.

    Thanks Steve, yeah that was the first thought of rodent activity cause it ran fine till it was parked for about 4 months. Just can't find anything chewed yet though.

Check the pcm battery fuse.

Yes. First, in the fuse block under the hood check INJ A fuse and INJ B fuse. INJ A fuse is circuit 1039 which feeds the coil. If the fuse is OK, replace the coil electrical connector. I stock 2 of these at my dealership because they are needed quite often.
FYI P1351 is an ignition coil control circuit DTC.

Check your fuel regulator on also check your injectors - if you have a CSFI injection system you may want to replace it with a MFI upgrade kit. Trust me. - CSFI sucks

Inside the distributor cap under the rotor is the camshaft sensor with a 4-wire plug. You have to bump the engine over with until a notch in the mount for the rotor lines up with the sensor. Just two bolts retain in, T20 Torx I believe.

2001 buick century stalled without warning. tried to restart, but wouldnt crank, no fuel pump noise, no click. had power to radio, heater fan, flashers but not dashboard lights (prndl, fuel gauge).

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Check fusible links where applicable. Any component that doesn't work and is fuse protected, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite.
The wiring diagram is for starter circuit, you can see the fuses. Any testing for starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. It is possible to jump crank relay to see if starter motor will crank, but, that doesn't mean it will start. Make sure vehicle can't move.

You have a bus communication problem. Start by checking all fuses. Next check all connectors. Specifically the pcm connectors and ground. These are located in the engine compartment on the passenger side behind air intake. I have ha 2-3 of these trucks need either a pcm or connector for open asd relay circuit issues.

2001 jimmy no pcm communication

2000 gmc jimmy only starts when it wants

It don't love you any more!
You need to check and see if you're losing spark or fuel when it does not start.
Listen for the pump to buzz for about 2 seconds when you first turn the key on. No buzz could be relay, fuel pump or its circuit.
If it does not buzz, crank the engine for a few more seconds until you see the oil pressure go up. If it still does not have fuel then the pump or its wiriing may be bad.

No spark could be coil or ignition module or the wiring. Check for power to the coil. Auto Zone can test the ignition module for free. The old idea that when a module is bad its done is NOT true. The module can give intermitent problems. A vehicle can run with a bad module. If you have a tachometer and the vehicle runs smooth but the tach is bouncing, the module is bad.
The ignition module also send a signal to the PCM so it knows the vehicle is running and will send a pulse to the injectors.

The jimmy cant not starte

I need more info. Does it not turn over? Does it turn over but not start? Does it try to start? It could either be electrical or a fuel problem. You have to know which. When you turn the ignition on, (when the dash lights and gauges come on), listen for the fuel pump to cycle (run), if not check the fuses and or relays. Your owner's manuel in the glove compartment should tell you which fuse it is. If the pump cycles check the pcm or ignition fuse. Then you have to go from there. If no spark to the plugs it could be a coil, crank trigger, etc.

I have a 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 i check fuel pressure an the voltage

a simple 12vdc will not due, it needs a pulse signal from the computer. a full 12vdc could fry the injectors, but the spider assemblys in them v6's are always a @$!$@ up design. i have encountered alot of them with bad pcm, or the spider.

2000 GMC Jimmy won't start

i had the same problem and replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Cost about $45 at advance auto store or about $90 at napa auto stores. Once i replace that my truck started right yup and runs like a champ

do you have access to a scanner to check the computer , possibly the computer has gone bad .
