You cannot check the transmission fluid in the Trooper w/o putting it on a lift. The dip stick is not accessable under the hood.

I had a similar problem with my Trooper cutting off and eventually had to replace the starter. Would recommend that you take it in before you get stranded w/o a starter (like I did).

Any trouble with your CD player? I have a CD stuck in mine - it makes a horrible clicking noise for about 2 minutes everytime I start the car and I can't seem to get it out.

SOURCE: how do I check the transmission fluid of my 98 Isuzu trooper ?

In fact, you can. The large transmission pan has two plugs in the bottom. The higher one is a fill plug. The lower one is a drain plug. The proper procedure for checking the level is: A) Drive vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature (go for a 30 min drive). B) Park vehicle and apply emergency brake, run gear selector through all gears (engine running, pausing 5 sec.'s in each gear) from Park, down, and back to Park (very important to be in park when checking level). C) Immediately remove the upper fill plug and check level with your finger, it should be just up to the hole, fill as necessary. NOTE: If more than a dribble of fluid drains out when you first open the fill plug then it was overfilled or the procedure was not followed. Use a catch pan under the hole just in case. Filling of the fluid is by means of a small pump and hose, commonly found at auto parts stores.

SOURCE: 2000 ISUZU TROOPER WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. CHECK

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

How do I check the transmission fluid in a 2000 Isuzu trooper?

A/t or M/t FLUID? ATF or GEAR LUBE (main transmission or the transfer case????????????
auto or stick????????????
we cant guess transmission options
if you have 4wd, it has 2 transmission devices.
main box.
the car is A/t it has no dip stick, you looked and didn't say that in your post ,right>?
so it has unique fill plugs, and special rules.

the 4L30E manufactured by GM.
the old car book shows DEXRON III
mark 3 is no longer made or legal to make, its been decertified.
that means run DEX VI Dexron 6
DEX 6 is downward compatible (and many times better)
it runs hotter with no damage to it . see?
but Dexron is never upward compatible ever. dex3 in new cars never...!!!!
and DEX1 is whale oil so forget that.

easy peasy japaneezy, right.?

if you learn to google you can find out facts like this.
lost operators guide.
or cant find a FSM for 2000 trooper?

they made all this harder so typ, owers will leave to the mech to do this right, many owners burn up transmissions!!!
by overfilling or using wrong AFT or both. vast causes.
ATF means automatic transmission fluid.. if you wonder.

on newer cars the oprators guide, will show
Nothing for transmission service, (like all older cars had)
or will just say get car service, by a professional for all transmission checks.
If really curious, all this is covered in all cars made in the big book, called a FSM ,(SM) factory service manual.
it's all there, read it.
or go to alldata.com, mitchels or chiltons on line. and read the (near) FSM on line.
same answer for all cars made, read the FSM
then ask questions.
if you need the quoted book, steps the link above has it.... from a poster, hope he posted the right pages, and for right car.
using rumor to fix cars is HIGH RISK.
best best is to read the real OE book from ISUZU.
ever price a new transmission..... ???

on even newer cars the level is set using
a scan tool that can read transmission temperatures. (good luck doing that... on your next car)

let me now explain correct. per the trans makers.
correct why:
they want the pan dropped, and filter new.
they want all that ccrraapp in the bottom of the pan removed, for sure.. and off all magnets there.
the want the right fluid there, not a mix of gawd knows what or some walfart trans additive magic snake oil; melting all the seals and o-rings inside.
they want the newest DEX in there, all DEX6 NOW.
and filled to the correct level hot, never under-filled or over filled.
deleting this dip stick, forces most owners to get it done by a pro, and longer life and no warranty work at vast cost to makers.
that is how the story goes, it's no secret.
this car is and early adopter of this method and I'm sure GM had a hand in this...100%

Why80 amp fuse keeps blowing and 2000 isuzu trooper wont start

Sorry-- no one can guess at why a fuse blows

You have to look at wiring diagrams & figure
that out, through proper testing

My 2000 isuzu trooper is blowing 80 amp fuse dont know why

If wires were disconnected ,you would have an open
circuit & no reason for a fuse to even be involved

You need most all the wiring in play to blow a main 80Amp Fuse

2000 isuzu trooper main fuse keeps blowing and can't find the wire shorting out

The main fuse usually only goes between the battery and the starter and the alternator. I'd bet the starter wire insulation is cut through by one of the wire ties or at the starter. If the wire got hot , which if it's blowing a 50a fuse , it did, check any heavy gage wires coming from that fuse to the batt and starter and alternator

2001 Isuzu Trooper No dash lights keeps blowing fuses

If you keep blowing fuses, you have a short somewhere in your wiring system. The ONLY way to fix this is to trace ALL your wires, and find the one that is grounding itself out by not having any insulation around it. Which means you can see the wire itself. Hope this helps, James Booth. Please rate this. :)
