  • Clean the cylinder head bolts, apply sealer to the threads, and hand-tighten.
  • Tighten the cylinder head bolts:
    1. M11 cylinder head bolts first pass in sequence to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
    2. M11 cylinder head bolts second pass in sequence + 90 degrees.
    3. M11 cylinder head bolts (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) + 90 degrees
    4. M11 cylinder head bolts (9 and 10) + 50 degrees
    5. M8 cylinder head bolts (11,12,13,14,15) to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Begin with the center bolt (11) and alternating side-to-side, work outward tightening all of the bolts.
NOTE The cylinder head gasket displacement can be verified by markings visible on the underside of the right gasket locating tab. Some 4.8/5.3L head gaskets may have 53 stamped onto the locating tab. Some 6.0L head gaskets may have 60 stamped onto the locating tab.

Chevy trailblazer 4.2 6 cylinder head bolt torque in ft/lbs only and sequence

the sequence can be found online @ fel-pro torque table they are now using angle meteres because these bolts are tty (torque to yield ) which means they are designed to stretch, I recommend using new head bolts, and the final ft./lbs will be 55lbs they tighten in three stages ,follow the directions in torque table, do not use air ratchet on initial tightening , I have been using anerobic sealant on headbolts as some now go into aluminum threads and water jackets. hope it helps

I need to know the torque specs for the head gasket for a 96 3.8 chevy camaro

Tighten the cylinder head bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) in sequence.

Use a torque angle meter to rotate each cylinder head bolt 120 degrees in sequence.

Use a torque angle meter to rotate the four center cylinder head bolts an additional 30 degrees in sequence...

    I hope this helps.

1994 jeep 4.0L replaced intake gasket 3 times. It keeps blowing. cat is ok.nothin is worped.any help would be great.

First, if you are using the same brand gasket every time, try another brand (fel-pro is good)
Next, try following the tightening sequence and torque recommendations in a manual like chilton or haynes. When tightening, go over the sequence twice, use haf the torque setting the first time around then full torque the second time. Make sure there is no gasket material remaining either on the manifold or the head surfaces or it definitely will not seal. Never remove a manifold when it's hot. It can warp as it cools. If the gasket has failed in the same place every time, regardless of the tightening sequence, tighten that spot first, then run through the sequence. By the way...you cannot see warpage by just looking at it. If in doubt, have a machine shop check it.

Can i change a leaking top gasket at home? I want to remove the head and have it skimmed.I am reasonally mechanical minded. What is the torque for fastening the top nuts? Manie vd Merwe. Jeffreys Bay

VOLKSWAGONS YOU NEED CYLINDER HEAD REMOVE SEQUENCE AND CYLINDER HEAD TORQUE SEQUENCE.YOU NEED A REPAIR MANUAL FOR TORQUE SEQUENCE OR YOU WILL HAVE HEAD GASKET LEAKS. TORQUE HEAD BOLTS TO * STEP 1 * TORQUE BOLTS 30 FT LBS * STEP TWO * TIGHTEN BOLTS 44 FT LBS STEP 3 TIGHTEN BOLTS PLUS 90 DEGREES.* STEP FOUR* TIGHTEN BOLTS PLUS 90 DEGREES AGAIN.

I am replacing the intake gasket on my 2005 pacifica and need the torque specs and sequence tighten it back down

If you are looking at the engine from the front and the large hose is at the bottom right the tightening sequence is from upper left to right 6237 bottom left to right 5148 just like I typed it torque is 250 inch pounds on lower intake and 105 inch pounds on the upper intake. So when you look at those numbers you tighten 12345678 in that order to 250 inch pounds in 3 increments then install the top intake.

How to install a intake on a big block chevy corvette

That depends on type of gasket being used. Some fel-pro gaskets have sealant built into the gaskets, I have used some sealant to help hold gaskets in place around bolt holes during installation but that's not always necessary...and yes there is a torque sequence for intake manifolds...example given in link.

The balancer should be torqued also...85 - 90 Ft-lbs if I remember correctly. The balancer should be all the way back when completely torgued, if not you may need to check for clearance problems.
