How do I remove oil sump to remove pistons ,coz m stuck towards gear box side do I need to remove gear box.

You don't say on what vehicle but I would guess if there are bolts to remove and gearbox is in the way you should only need to remove bolts and slide gearbox back a touch just enough to get the remaining bolts out from the sump

Here is the input for the speedometer cable drive. If the gear box is in the frame, you will need a 10 mm wrench to loosen the bolt holding the cable. Back the bolt out until you can pull the speedometer paddle drive free.

If the gear box is on in the frame you will also need to remove the neutral switch wire with a 13 mm wrench and slotted screw driver to keep the adjustment screw from moving.

What can cause the tranny to not shift into 3rd & 4th gear? Sometimes it shifts but won't stay in gear.

If this is a manual box then the problems can be loose gear box bolts, incorrectly tensioned bell housing bolts, spigot gearing failure in the input/ out put shafts or bearing failure for both shafts. After removing the shifter turret check the operation of the shifter rails as it may be a faulty selector fork ( both gears are controlled by the same fork)

Remove gear shift assembly

There will be 4 bolts on top of the gear box that fix the gear selector turret in place . Remove any trim and rubber boots to get to these bolts . undo them and lift the gear lever ass. out of the box.

Manual transmission re-submit

IT is possible that the transmission was damaged during clutch replacement. IF the box didn't slip home easily but was pulled into place with the flange bolts the damage would be in the clutch plate but it may have put pressure in the input shaft and bearing. The jumping out of gear is indicative of a misaligned gear box to bell housing situation Undo all the flange bolts and check that there is nothing caught between the faces of the box and housing . Re-tension going around the bell housing tightening each bolt a bit at a time . Check that the flange face and the bell housing are together all the way round.5 th gear is in effect outside the gear box proper and is inside the extension housing and is remote from the problem if the box is properly aligned . If misaligned then the wobble in the input shaft will wobble the output shaft which will work the 5th gear out of mesh

Install clutch on 1996 f150 302 5.0

Drop the tail shaft . remove the gear lever from inside the cab. remove the housing bolts and pull gear box back out of the way. remove the clutch pressure plate by evenly undoing the pressure plate cover bolts. lift away along with the clutch plate Remember the way the clutch plate is facing as it will only go in one way. If the flywheel is badly blued or scored remove it and have it machined flat. Check and if necessary replace the bearing/bush in the end of the crank shaft. Fit new clutch plate the correct way or the flywheel bolts will hit the clutch plate and you will have to do the job again. position up the pressure plate and use a clutch aligning tool to hold the clutch plate exactly in line with the bush/bearing in the crank. tighten up the cover plate bolts evenly so as not to warp the pressure plate. Replace the clutch throw out bearing as it will be on the way out. Reposition the gear box back on to the motor making sure that the flange faces remain parallel at all times so that the splines of the input shaft do not bind on the clutch plate splines. Push the gear box all the way home and bolt up. Do not use the bolts to pull the box in as there is something wrong and you will damage something. The box will go all the way home easily if you have done everything correctly. Finish the job.

How do you align the torque converter to the motor of a 2000 plymouth neon 2.0L with transmission still in the vehicle without it binding?

The trick is to place the torque converter onto the gear box first and slide it back to the gear box. position the gear box against the engine housing and do up the bolts. Then through the inspection cover opening pull the converter up to the flex plate align the bolt holes ,insert the bolts and tension up

How many bolt studs hold the head to the 2.0 liter engine.. 2003 hyundai tiburon.. Also, my 10MM allenhead doesn't seem to bite enough on the bolt.. do you recommend anything to help get it off without...

hi their should be 10 bolts holding the head on and the tool you need is an inverted torque socket these are needed to undo the head bolts using an allen key would just thread the head and would mean drilling the head bolts out which is a night mare, so dont use allen keys as they will not be strong enough to undo the head bolts without threading the head bolts.
as for the gearbox as long as you have undone the 2 at the top and the ones either side and the bottom bolt you should then be able to remove the gear box from the engine, the problem with your car is the gear box has not got much room to come away from the engine far enough to allow you to get it out, you may need to undo the engine mountin bolts to allow you to have a bit extra room you may also need an engine hoist to support the engine whilst removing the box, you may get away without one but it will be difficult.

make sure you have removed the drive shafts from the gear box and also the starter motor and make sure the speedo drive is undone and also the electrics for the reverse light if this is located at the top of the gear box.

How do I take out the transmission on my 88, 5 speed camaro? I have the drive shaft off the gear shifter is out and the exhaust is out of the way. There is four bolts that hold in the transmission. How do...

there is no top bolt on the gear box. you do have to remove the torque link arm. it bolts to the rearend and the output housing of the gear box. then the 4 bolts on the gear box. you have to remove the trans mount and crossmember also. your trans will not just fall out. you will have to wiggile it as the weight and clutch slpines are holding it in. wiggile and pull rearword.
