Question about Cars & Trucks
Water pump is leaking
BEFORE YOU START,, READ THIS ENTIRE PROCESS. If you're water pump is outside the engine is easy, but if is inside is best to take it to a repair shop, for this procedure the engine must be cold to prevent burning, 1st check if the air hoses is on top of the water pump if it is remove it then locate the serpentine belt if is a car or truck with several different types of belt then take out the ones that are blocking the water pump make shure the belts goes to the same place, for the single belt you don't have to worry about that after removing the belts you just need to unscrew all bolts from water pump then pulled out, in some cases you need to maneuver the water pump, after taking out your water pump remove the gasket and clean the surface make sure is gasket and dirt free this will prevent from leaking ones is clean grabbed the new pump, apply some RTV OR SILICONE around the surface where the gasket goes then put the new gasket in with holes lined up carefully put it back and insert the bolts, hand cross tiet first and then cross tiethen with ratchet tool, put back all belts and air hoses put water and antifreeze and your done, in some trucks or vans the bolts do too need some silicone around the threads or it will leak good luck and hope this was helpful!
