Question about 2005 Audi A6 3.2
After replacing the battery, all lights lit up brightly yet the car was still sluggish and unwilling to accelerate. The next day the car started as if it had been previously flooded because the AAA mechanic accelerated a lot to attempt to move the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, after moving it several feet, the pedal was to he floor. Simultaneously, it took the car nearly 20 minutes for the heating gauge to register between the cool and hot. Also, the amp would not move beyond 3.8. No matter how many times I attempted the acceleration would not go beyond 3.8 amps.
Get the OBD codes read as seems to be at least one sensor/switch is at fault , follow this link to an A6 forum for more info

The car has entered into fail safe mode. It wil not allow the engine to rev high but allows you only to get to a mechanic or to get some oil into the engine. What's the level like? Is there any trace of leakeage?

It sounds like there may be an issue with your ignition system.
Check the ignition wires, distributor cap, spark plugs.
