H most common cause of a front end shutter is warped rotors. You can have them turned and they will stop shuttering. The way to tell is the shutter gets worse at higher speed. The other cause of a shutter is loose ball joints or steering components. The way to check this is to jack up the one side and wiggle the tire to check the play in the components. You should also grease all pinions while doing this. You should also check the wheel bearings by pulling and pushing on the tire to see if it moves in and out. Lock the steering wheel and take proper safety precautions.

You should have diagnosed & found a problem,
BEFORE you did the alignment, because now if
you find you need parts, to solve the problem, you
may have to align it again & now you may also be
wearing the new tires

Wrong strategy & I assume wrong shop, or they didn't
understand or care what your vehicles issues were

People seem to always think an alignment will solve
mechanical issues, for some reason

For me-- I ask,why does a fairly new 2008 vehicle have those
problems in the first place?

There are a lot of factors that can make your car to shudder and shake. You need to check the following too:- Check the steering system, check the engine mountings too, check the suspension system too.
Question:- Is it shaking at a certain speed or is it shaking on take off, is it an automatic transmission or a manual one?
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: S430 Mercedes - Front end shaking at 55+

It sounds like you have either a broken steel belt in your tire or a worn out idler arm in your steering assembly. Other causes may be a bent wheel, a flat spot on the tire or worst case your brake rotor / wheel hub may be loose. If the rotor / wheel hub is loose you may have severly damaged wheel bearings. Good luck...

Front brake rotors are warped,if it didn't shake before the wheels were removed, re-torque the lug nuts. If the shake was there before, the rotors either need machined or replaced.

2005 mercury mariner vibrates a lot when driving up to 20 mph, then it's all smooth. I installed 4 new tires, did front end alignment and rear, did tire rotation and balance, now it is showing ABS

The vibration at low speeds can be due to possible fault in wheel bearings, drive shaft or even with a faulty steering system. You need to hoist up the car and check on all the individual wheels, hubs and also check for the ABS line to the wheel hubs which could have failed or there is a sensor failure on the wheel hub.

Tire noise on mercury mariner so so loud, is there a better tire than the continental contitrac 235x70?

Tires offer a number of trade-offs. Loud tires provide superior tread wear and a harsher ride, are loud. Soft tires provide a smooth ride, quiet operation and usually fewer miles.

Please go see your Goodyear or Firestone or Continental (or other major brand) tire professional and discuss your concerns with him or her to find the best tire for your application and driving style.
