SOURCE: 1994 ranger 2.3L 5 speed, 2WD, a/c. Cranks but

You have to check for spark with a spark tester. This is the best way to check for spark. Also checking the fuel is best done with a fuel pressure tester because then you know if your getting the right pressure.Just cause there is fuel coming out does not mean there is enough pressure.Same for resistance it won`t be the same under a load.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: 88 ranger 2.3L EFI NEW tank, low and high pumps, both filters, (FPR). will not hold fuel pressure and will not start

Check the fuel pressure regulator on the end of the injector rail (on the engine) This is controlled by manifold vacuum and may be faulty.

SOURCE: fuel pressure regulator location

Depending on the year of the truck, it should be on the fuel rail near the injectors.

Try crankshaft positioner. It needs to accurately report rpm to the ecm to kick up fuel pressure. Check Inertia switch for fuel cutoff and reset.

I have an 1986 ford ranger, fuel injection, automatic. I can start the truck, but then it tries to die when I shift to reverse, or when i switch to drive and try to give it the gas. Then, the other day...

U need to verify the fuel pressure during this time that is acts up.if the fuel pressure drops below 30 psi then u may have a faulty fuel pump.you can get a fuel pressure tester from advance auto,Install the tester on the test valve on the fuel rail.Your truck has two fuel pumps but the main supply pump is mounted on the frame rail underneath the drivers side floor pan.

Need to know will a 3.0 v6 out of a 93 fit in my

you will need to change engine and transmission along with the engine wiring harness and computer also if your 2.3 was carburetorated you will need the fuel pump out of the fuel tank .
also remove the engine frame mounts and the transmission cross-member from the 93 might also need changed.

Fuel Problem

fuel pressure regulator? This diverts excess pressure from the rail back to the tank. When they wear out they usually stay stuck open thus diverting all pressure back to the tank. Pressure tests do not reveal this as pressure is checked before the rail not in it. I do believe you have a bad fuel regulator. They are 75US ouch.
