Both the exhaust lobe and the intake lobe must be away from the lifter mechanism. There should be a mark to align when you are in this position.

Not knowing how far your cam timing is off, your valves may be hitting the top one of a pistons. That may be why cam wont turn anymore.
May be best to back up the cam a bit, remove the spark plugs & with screw driver or wooden dowel probe the cylinders to see which piston is near the top.
Then rotate crank a bit to lower piston down the cylinders DO NOT USE STARTER to rotate engine while timing belt is off or valve damage may occur.

Camshaft would not turn anymore can't make it to the timing mark how do I turn it to the timing mark

Instruction changing timing belt 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloz?


With Cam Caps loosened, FIRST loosen timing chain tensioner, press it in to loosen tension, Crank using ratchet to TDC (Top Dead Center on crank pully, (to keep from damage to pistons), align Exhaust Cam Timing Mark to mark on #1 Exhaust cam cover, then take up slack between Exhaust & Intake Cams (on top between the cams), Then align the Intake Cam to mark on #1 Cam Cap, "Now" loosen the 17mm bolt to tighten timing chain, rotate engine using rachet two times, reset TDC at the crank, and look at "Cam Timing Marks on both the Exhaust, and Intake Cams. If you did all this correctly the "Timing Marks" should be lined up so TDC,Exhaust, and Intake marks are all the same.

If timing belt is off by one tooth could it cause it not to crank? 98 neon 2.0 L single cam


The pulley on the crankshaft turns the timing belt
The top ends of the timing belt turn the cams
You need to go to You Tube Video & watch how things work
If your referring to the valves hitting the pistons & not turning,
no,not with a tooth or two off.
Still have to be sure the belt is good & timing correct,not
jumped, as your asking

What is the tdc for a 99 montero sport


TDC stands for "Top Dead Center". This is where the piston in #1 cylinder is at the very top of it's travel and it has nowhere to go but down. This actually occurs on EVERY revolution of the crankshaft. For engine timing purposes, most repair procedures also expect the valves for #1 cylinder to be completely closed. This happens on every SECOND revolution of the crankshaft. The valves are controlled by the cam shaft. The vehicle manufacturer provides marks on the crankshaft and cam sprockets and on the engine to indicate the crankshaft and camshaft position where this occurs. Please see the picture below.

How to do timing belt on audi a4 tdi ajm engine 2000


I dont think you should do this type of job unless you are a tech, major engine damage can occur if any adjustment of the gears are off, i will send you a few diagrams of what needs to be done to do a timing belt on one of these, i have done many and i still triple check everything to avoid damage to motor, the front bumper asm, needs to be removed, the radiator and ac condensor removed the ac system drained out and much more.if you would like to tackle this a will help you just let me know, hope this helps good daysjohnjohn2_116.gifjohnjohn2_117.gifjohnjohn2_118.gif

Cannot put top up on 1987 allante the latch is locked in and icannot open the latch on the pull down motor


There's a switch ( kinda same shape, color & operation method as your power seat switches) behind driver's seat near the 2 Boot/Top 'release' pull tabs,, it's mounted on the "roof" of the open compartment area behind the seats. Slide your hand along there til you feel it. It recycles the pull-down motor up & down & should release the top. Also try in the trunck, there's 2 hard plastic strings with loops at end,, pull & see if it releases it.

Installation of a 1999 peugeot 306 1.4L timing belt. Where are the marks?


piston tdc no1 and follow valves so no1 with both valves closed then look for mark ,seem to remember its up top on the cover somewhere ,and crank keyway points up as well

well not sure exactly why it wont line up use something to turn the crank and cam to appropiate position start sliding crank gear until cam gear is touching then start to push both at same time make sure your crank key and cam pin are bothin place On many OHV pushrod engines, the crankshaft sprocket is installed on the crankshaft nose and the crankshaft is rotated to position piston #1 at TDC. At this point, a mark stamped onto the crankshaft sprocket is pointing directly upward (toward the camshaft).
The camshaft sprocket is then temporarily bolted to the cam and used to rotate the cam until a mark stamped on the cam sprocket is pointing directly downward (toward the crankshaft). The sprocket is then removed from the cam (without allowing the cam to rotate).
The timing chain is looped over the cam gear, the mark on the cam gear is positioned directly downward, and the chain is looped around the crankshaft sprocket. When the cam sprocket is attached to the cam, the timing marks on the crank and cam sprockets should be pointing toward one another.
