Question about 2000 Ford Mustang
Problem found: Bad contact in the ignition switch between 'chipped' starter key and anti-theft device built into the car. Chipped key having a problem sending signal to anti-theft device which unlocks the systems to start the car correctly (worn key/corroded contact in ignition switch. I lightly greased key with electric bulb grease and worked it into ignition. Better contact now; engine starts on first revolution hot or cold...PROBLEM RESOLVED PLEASE SHARE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE OLDER CHIPPED KEYS AND ANTI-THIEFT FACTORY SYSTEMS IN THEIR TRUCKS & CARS...it's a simple fix!!!
Glad to know this solution. The Format of Fixya sent me this cure as at some point I answered a problem of your make and model of car. It does not reference if I answered your problem or what I said as a solution. Chip problems may have been mentioned, and a new ignition switch may be a better solution if a Mechanic is receiving pay to work on someone else's car. Its fine for your own car repair. Thanks

Try pulling the fuse for the anti theft system and starting. If the car starts normally, then the problem is with the theft system. The theft system will reset itself after a period of time.
