Question about 2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I have 04 f-250 super duty 5.4L v-8 gas and it overheats and pressure in upper radiator hose and no pressure in lower just changed thermostat and did nothing any suggestions? please help me out

Your radiator may be plugged. Have your system flushed out.

SOURCE: Replace thermostat in 2000 ford ranger

the open pipe that you took the hose off of is the thermostat housing, you will need to remove this to reveal the thermostat, make sure you use a new gasket with sealant when reinstalling thermostat housing to prevent leaks and dont over tighten the bolts,run both bolts down as far as you can before final tightning

check the vaccum hoses on the passenger side under hood. I think that there are two hoses but it might be three. they get brittle and leak. but they move a little valve that you can move yourself just to see if heat works then. it is inline with the heater hoses I think. Bear with me though because it has been about 3-4 years ago when I figured this one out. it is definately a vaccum problem. there is also a set of vaccum hoses under passenger side of dash, several colors in it. might want to look there because sometimes kicked by peoples feet but money is on the ones inline with heater core. just move linkage and see if it gets hot air. Hope I helped and didnt confuse.

no sealant should be needed.clean both surfaces well.be sure 'o' ring stays in place & thermostat is installed correctly.you'll probably only fill the hose as the thermostat will be closed,but that won't hurt.keep proper level in over flow tank,it will bleed air out itself in a day or 2

If I understand your problem correctly if sounds as if the engine mount bolts broke which allowed the engine to drop which may have kinked your radiator hose, that caused a flow problem and the engine over heated.
If this is what you are saying it is possible the inner liner of the hose ruptured and folded in causeing a restriction in the hose, this use to be fairly common with hose's in the 50's and 60's but is pretty rare these days.
You need to check the hose for soft spots, if you do not find anything there its time for some tests, the first would be to remove the thermostat and run the engine to see if you have flow in the radiator, if your radiator has a cap at the side tank run the engine with the coolant a little low, if there is flow your will be able to see the coolant coming out of the tubes inside at the top of the core. If there is no flow you need to take a better look at the hose and possible the water pump impeller.

2002 dodge caravan 4 cylinder. Recently replaced the radiator hoses and water pump, now vehicle is pushing fluid out the resivoir overflow spout. Causing the engine to overheat. What could cause this?


The problem is the coolant isn't circulation through the system. You are getting all the pressure on one side of system and the tank is the only place where the pressure can be released. Is the thermostat good? Is it installed correctly? Check for coolant in the radiator. After vehicle has been running but turned off feel the upper radiator hose is it under pressure and hot. Next feel the bottom hose is it under pressure and cooler than the upper hose. If the upper hose is not under pressure fix thermostat it's not working correctly. If lower hose is not under pressure something is wrong with the radiator

Overheating


Be sure the radiator is full of coolant, Start the engine when cold, while engine is running feel the top radiator hose. As the engine warms up the upper radiator hose will suddenly get hot when the thermostat opens. If the upper hose stays cool, the thermostat may be stuck closed. If thermostat is stuck closed It must be replaced.

Without knowing more about your car, this is all I can recommend.

trace upper radiator hose to thermostat housing, remove thermstat housing and thermostat, replace reverse of removal.

I have a 1992 Buick regal that overheats at speeds of 40 mile n hour it has a new radiator, thermos stat, has been flushed an filled and bled have not changed the water pump when it overheats all of m


It is more than likely your water pump. Can you run it in park with the radiator cap off. The cap on the radiator not the overflow tank. When the temp opens the thermostat you should see flow if the pump is good no flow it is probably bad. If you don't see flow check the upper hose for temp and the lower hose. If the upper line is barely warm and the lower hose is significantly hotter, it is either water pump or thermostat, but since you replaced the thermostat I would be back to water pump. BTW you should use either a contact thermometer or an infrared to check hoses, although it was done by hand in the old days.

I doubt its anything electric.
Are you sure the radiator is full of coolant ?
Do both radiator hoses get hot when the thermostat opens at 195 degrees ?
Do both heater hoses get hot after running the engine for 5 min ?

1988 b2200 is overheating--we've changed out the lower radiator hose, thermostat, and the upper hose is fine. Why is it overheating? Radiator, heat pump, or water pump?


!st check and make sure the water is flowing in the radiator, then check
the timeing, Mazda will run hot if the timeing is rong.

does the upper and lower hoses seem to be the same temp when car begins to overheat? ore the radiator cooling fans coming on before the car overheats? did you pressure test the cooling system and radiator cap? also may want to remove the lower hose and flush the radiator. is the check engine light on and does it run bad?

Coolant fills overflow then overheats, have changed thermostat and temp sensor. is the water pump shot or a rad problem.


You got it right.
To determine which one is the right one:
1- Take ioff the thermostat, Run the engine without it. If water is coming out at the upper hose then pump is working.
2- Hook the upper hose back to the radiator without thermostat, run the engine and press the upper hose to see if coolant flowing throu it. If it is not then , the radiator gets clogged up.
3- At this point , you know what to do. One advice is that, get the new radiator if it is bad. Don't waste money to have it rebuilt. Good luck.

Thermostat location 1995 jeep grand cher. straight 6


Thermostat is located on 4.0L I-6 on front cylinder head. The 3.7L V-6 thermostat is located where the lower radiator hose attaches to engine. The 4.7L V-8 thermostat is located where the lower radiator hose attaches to engine. The 5.7L V-8 thermostat is located where the upper radiator hose attaches to engine. The 3.9L V-6 and 5.9L V-8 Thermostat is located on front top of intake manfold (between alternator and ac compressor)
