Question about 1997 Cadillac DeVille
Why is coolant leaking from underneath the center of my cadillac deville 1997? I've replaced everything that has to do with the coolant. There is no water nor fog on the passenger side floorboard nor fog on the windshield. Where could the coolant be coming from?
Well, if the coolant is leakimg from the HVAC drain, then you need a heater core, no matter what. You really have to jack it up and look, but I can give you a couple of pointers......
1. The water pump is leaking. That happens a lot. The coolant is leaking near the front of the car, near the center, but ever so slightly towards the drivers side. You need a special tool to replace it and I think gm has an updated cover and gasket.
2. The water pump housing is leaking. The gaskets that seal it to the block are made of plastic and deteriorate often. The coolant will be leaking at the center of the car, maybe up by the water pump, or back between the engine and transmission.
3. The heater hoses. I have only seen this 2 time, but the metal pipes corrode along the fire wall.
4. You could need a radiator. I have seen the side tanks leak a few times.....
Just A couple of places to look, but you have to get under and look....

Are you sure it is coolant? Humidity will cause excessive Condensation on the OUTSIDE of the condenser and will drip and make quite a puddle under your car but it is Water, not Green Coolant. If it is GREEN COOLANT, and you are filling the Radiator/Bottle then you need to Pressurize the system to 13-16 lbs pressure with the system Full and you will be able to locate the leak. You need to remember that Fluids will travel the past of least resistance and gravity. IT will take 30 minutes or so but Intake Gaskets, Hoses, Heater Core, Radiator, Water Pump, are places to start.

With great difficulty is the answer. First get yourself into the front floor space upside down, look with lamp at heater /water pipes leading to heater. if no leaks seen, take to repair shop.

Leakage of coolant can be because of two reasons.
1 The radiator is damaged. 2 One of the rubber hose in the cooling system is either leaking/cracked/come off from joint.
Place the car on a leveled place. Open the bonnet cover. Have a visual inspection of the cooling system. Tr to notice the leakage by looking at the spot on the ground where the coolant droplets are falling. This way you will be able to know whether it is the radiator or the rubber hose which is leaking.
