Without a scan tool, there is very little you can check at this point. If you have one, check to see what voltage you throttle position and MAP sensors are reading. If not, you can check them with a voltmeter. While cranking, both sensors should read about 1 volt with the throttle closed. Also, check to make sure you have 5 volts getting to each sensor.

Does the car try to start at all?
What engine is it? Is it really too much fuel or is there an ignition problem? More information is needed here.
Also, what is cranking vacuum reading?

02 caravan will start and stay running as long as my foot is on the gas but as soon as i take my foot off the gas it dies

using a digital volt ohm meter test the throttle position sensor. if it has a dead spot at idle position it will stall. also if the throttle plate is dirty it can cause a stall at idle and all you have to do is clean it.

I have a 2002 Intrepid with P 0340 code showing. Jusst started today. No stalling, rough running, or misfiring. Just curious is the camshaft position sensor could be thrown off by the timing belt being...

It could be both. Being a 2002 it could be the timing belt or just the sensor being bad and reporting the wrong position to the computer. Do a compression check first to see if your losing compression. If you aren't then it most likely is the Cam position sensor or Crank Position sensor. That code indicates it is the Cam Position Sensor that is faulty which is a good thing because that is easier to get at and replace.

My 2002 Dodge Caravan seems to be a bit sluggish, then all of a sudden the temp gauge shoots up and it's hot. We just replaced the water pump and thermostat.

check the coolant temperature sensor. the sensor is located right next to the thermostat housing. it has only two wires, disconnect plug. using a ohmeter check the resistance between the two terminals on top of the sensor when cold. resistance should be 7,000-- 13,000 ohms. check again when the engine has wormed up to about 200 degrees. the resistance should be 700--1,000 ohms. if there is not a definite change in the resistance, then remove and test in a pan of hot water. if the test is good, check the wiring harness from the sensor to the pcm.

Number of 02 sensors in a 2002 intrepid 2.7

4, 1 on each side before and after the catalytic coverter. If your getting a code on #2 sensor on either
side, this could mean the cat/c is plugging up on that side.

O2 sensors

If you dont have a heater code then the ohms are correct. Usually around 15 or so. Bad 02 heater sensor if either 0 which is shorted internally or infinity or open which is like a popped lightbulb. The fuel control side should be open, infinity. If you have a code that says stuck lean or rich or slow to respond then you most likely have an engine or otther sensor issue

02 intrepid ticking

Most dodge motors have adjusters on the rockers for taking up slack in the valve-train. when these get worn or plugged by dirt they turn the valves from soft hydraulic to hard ticking due to a space between the lifter and the valve. If this is an overhead cam with roller lifters then these have become worn or fouled.
