Trans fluid goes in the same tube the transmission dipstick sticks into. You'll need a funnel with a narrow bottom opening (1/2" or less). Make sure you pour it in the transmission dipstick tube, and not the engine oil dipstick tube. ;)
Initially, try to add about 3/4 of the estimated amount that you accidentally drained, then slow fill the remainder while checking level at different stages.
Also, try not to overfill. Check fluid level often, with engine running, in park or neutral, as you re-fill it.

Transmission fluid would be added into your transmission dip stick tube. DO not overfill.

SOURCE: Toyota Prius 2008 - Transmission or or fluid?

Here is the answer that you are looking for: Never.
The auto trans fluid in a Prius is what we call "World Spec", and never needs to be changed. Why? Because the Prius trans fluid is not used for hydraulic pressure or cooling the ATF fluid due to the lack of the aforementioned hydraulic pressure. All that the ATF does is perform a "lubrication" function. As long as there is no contamination of the fluid (such as being in a flood), do not bother with it.

SOURCE: fill transmission fluid on 19999 audi a4

LISTEN CLOSE. THERE IS A PLUG ON PAN. REMOVE IT. WITH A SYRINGE TYPE CANISTER YOU NEED TO INJECT THE FLUID INTO IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO COME OUT. THEN CAREFULLY START VEHICLE AND INJECT ANOTHER 3/4 QUART UNLESS IT STARTS TO COME OUT OR EVEN A QUART.LET IT RUN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN CONTINUE TO INSERT UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS AND TIGHTEN THE PLUG BACK TO THE PAN. i WOULD ONLY USE AUDI VOLKSWAGON FLUID AND YES IT CAN RUN $14 TO $18 A LITER

SOURCE: 98 toyota camry transmission service.

You can drain and fill your trans. It will take 2.5 -3.0 quarts of DEX III trans fluid....goes in the fill tube. Or you can get said transmission flushed which changes all fluid including torque converter.....about 15 quarts. Way more thorough.

Accidentally drained transmission fluid instead of oil. Bought 2008 Toyota Tacoma used and manual does not provide info on where transmission fluid is put in.

Normally the transmission fluid off pumped from the side of the engine block. You have to look from the under side of the vehicle. Good luck....

I have a 2008 Tacoma Prerunner automatic. I am getting a shimmy at 30-35 mph. I believe it is a transmission issue. Could that be because it is low on transmission fluid?

How would the transmission be low on fluid ?

It's up to you to check for leaks & the fluid level

If you think it is slipping, you may as well
pull the trans & have it rebuilt

Don't change the fluid every 2 or 3 years, you
have a failed trans

All vehicle fluids break down & very few people
change them

How much does it cost to have the trans. fluid in 08m tacoma at the dealer

it will cost you from $80 to $120 at dealer. (depend what is your state)
But if DIY will cost you 4qt to 5qt of transmission fluild. Price each quart $ 5.00 to 7.00 ea ( dealer price)
Hint : You must use the right transmission fluid type (buy from Toyota dealer never get wrong fluid)
Change transmission fluid is not same as change engine oil.
So Be careful. don't mess up your transmission, it will cost you more than $4500

How do I know that there is enough transmission fluid in the transmission of the toyota tacoma is there is no dipstick.

if there is no dip stick then it must be a stick. if it is the should be a drain and fill plugs on the trans. the top one is the fill. undo the plug and if you can touch the fluid with your finger there is enough fluid in the trans

How do you replace transmission fluid after you've accidentally emptied it thinking it was the engine oil?

Doh!!! Do you have a dipstick for the transmission? If yes, use a funnel in the dipstick tube to add tranny fluid. Make sure you buy the right fluid for your car as there are several types.

Where is the oil drain plug? How do you distinguish it from the transmission plug?

the oil drain plug is the 14mm bolt on the bottom of the the big black oil pan. on a tacoma the oil pan is more in the front and tranny sits behind motor- therefore trans pan if further back. I also think the tranny drain plug is more of an alan hex head type bolt. If the fluid comes out red you got the wrong one.
