Question about Cars & Trucks
I had a similar problem on my Toyota Corolla. The transmitter just quit, and I had to replace the transmitter. If you have a loose fob, you're lucky, I had to replace the ignition key which has a built in transmitter and is much more expensive.
A new fob has to be encoded, but you can find instructions on the net for your particular vehicle. If you think your dealer price is too high, check ebay, there are fobs for just about any car. Good luck.

My used 2003 Passat came with both fobs unable to hold a key. I had to break them open to retrofit a loop. These are some great links that I bookmarked. The first one should give you programmin instructions.Good luck!
