SOURCE: i need a wiring diagram for fog lights oem to my toyota

The link below is a Typical fog lamp / driving lamp hookup. Keep in mind that in most states, for these lamps to be 'legal' (and thus pass inspection), you must wire them such that:

1. You can cut them off (in other words, there must be a switch installed to turn them off)

and

2. They may only be operated with the low beams. (therefore, you must power your on/off switch from the low beam circuit)

2000 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 fog light wiring diagram

I looked at 5.7l engine. The wiring diagram had old style and new style. The diagram is new style . At the fog lamp the purple wire is voltage, the black wire is ground, check them both. You can see fog lamp relay, the is a fog lamp fuse for you to check. Not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage. Use a testlight. The fog lamp relay has no terminal numbers, sometimes that means the relay is soldered into the fuse box, you can't pull it out. Most relays have to sides, the load side, that line with arrowhead. The control side, left side in diagram, needs both voltage and ground. I couldn't get everything in one picture.

How to install fog lights

To do it right you will need several things. Go to Autozone.com and register your vehicle to get a free wiring diagram and fusebox diagram.

This will help you wire the Fog lights. Here is how you plan this. You will need a light Relay to go inline between the lights and the Power supply. Get a Relay which needs a trigger wire to activate and fuse the power line going to the Relay.

This means that the Relay only needs power from the trigger wire to activate the connection between the power and the lights.

Then you need to pass the trigger wire through the Firewall(Cabin) in a manner that will not chaff the wire. This wire should be fused too! You can try to use an unused position in the Fusebox or inline fuse.

The power for this trigger wire should be controlled by the Ignition switch

This means that it will only have power when the Ignition is on. You do not want it to receive power when the Ignition is in ACC or OFF.

Wiring it in this sequence will prevent you from leaving the Fog lights burning without having the Ignition switch in the RUN position. Doing it this way will also let you leave the Fog lights switched ON between uses so you need not bother to turn the Fog lights off/on each time you get in your car.

Each power wire is protected by a fuse so if something shorts on one side of the Relay, the other end of the Relay may be unharmed.

Then it is just a matter of chosing the switch, lighted will indicate if the Fog lights are on, but not necessary to the basic operation of the switch. Then chose wisely for where you drill a mounting hole. Sometimes it is good to chose a panel that can be replaced if you change your mind about its' location.

Please rate my solution.

Need wiring diagram for headligt on 2003 chevy impala with 3.8 cu engine

Sounds like a short or the relay is going bad to the headlamps. You may be able to google for the diagram but probably will need to get a repair manual from the nearby auto parts store for appx $25.00. I would start by checking continuity with the battery disconnected on that side from the positive wire to a ground. Also start with checking the relay, they are usually generic and you should be able to swap two as long as the numbers match and see if that fixes the issue.

Where does the hot wire for aftermarket fog lamps get wired in? hoping to use one of the empty buttons on the dashboard.

The factory wiring harness for the fog lights may already be there, if not you will need a relay and usually the relays have wiring instructions with them, if not the aftermarket fog lights DO have instructions on how to wire them, however you may need a wiring diagram for your vehicle, get a haynes manual it will have it.

Wiring for Bosch Hologen Fog Lights? Wiring harness has 5 wires from relay, Red to battery, 2 Black - 1 to each light?, 1 Yellow to?, 1 Blue to?, & where do the xtra Black and Green wires go to? These...

Look on the relay for the terminal numbers.
Terminal 30 goes to the battery positive.Red Wire
The two terminal 87 go to the fog lights.Black Wires
Match the color wire with what you have on the relay connection for the rest of the wires.
Terminal 86 should connect to your low beam headlight.
Terminal 85 should go to the fog light switch.
The fog light switch should connect to the terminal 85 and the other terminal on the switch will connect to ground.

Fog light not working

The 15 amp FOG fuse is in the fuse box in the engine compartment, at the bottom, right between the fog light relay and the fan #1 relay. The fuse is by itself, there are no other fuses next to it. Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
