Question about Cars & Trucks
I had an 86 deville
I would say just replace them, if you can
even get them & the compressor still
Doubt a dealer has them anymore
There are companies that make
lots of air struts
I think you have struts at least 1985 & 86 did
You have to have it aligned after you replace them,
You won't have obd 1 software, to command them up & down
& you would have to make a fitting to put on the shock/
strut to test them or at the compressor outlet
There is or should be a level control arm on the rear suspension,
that may be corroded or failed
If you turn on the key & pop off the level switch arm & move by hand, you can check that way
Measure from the wheel lip to the ground on both sides, before
you play around with the level control arm

that system has a pump, you should hear it run when you start the car. it also has a bleed valve. i have seen the valve get stuck before. i don't remember what year caddillac stopped putting the suspension switch in the trunk, but if the switch has been turned off the light will remain on as well. there is a level sensor under the rear of the car connected to the suspension you can try to disconnect the arm and manually move it and see if the pump kicks on. there is a few second delay before you hear the pump. if the fuses are good and the switch is on check for voltage at the pump when you move the level sensor. check for signal from the sensor. if pump runs and shock don't air up check for air leaks with soap water spray, and/or air bypassing valve. hope i helped you...dustang

SOURCE: Changing rear air shocks
yes u can, u will need one of suncore industries kits ($539.00) to do the conversion to standard shock strut system, u will also need the relay kit. Call them before u buy.

SOURCE: rear brake caliper removal
I just did the rear caliper on my '95 Deville Concours and found that the caliper would not rotate enough to slide it off the top bolt. My solution was to remove the parking brake cable bracket bolt behind the caliper. This gave me the ability to rotate the caliper enough to get the caliper off of the brake pads and slide the caliper towards the inside of the car.
