The sending unit is in the fuel tank

Having owned a similar 1992 dakota

If the sensing unit is bad, I suggest you
tip up the box, to get to the top of the tank.

The tank straps will be all rusted & not worth
doing anything with & the dakota has no dealer
parts supply much after ten years old

I left mine alone after 16 years, it acted questionable

At 18.5 years the frame split open & I parted with it

The gauge in the dash !! question there ?

Going to be hard to reach the connectors to check for
a poor ground, tip up the box & that may be the fix

Why is my 89 ford bronco running so rich

I saw what you replaced, didn't see any testing? Any applicable trouble codes?
Did you use a gage and check proper fuel pressure? My info on that engine size, said 35--45 psi. If the fuel pressure is too high, check the return line. As far as the fuel pressure regulator, do you have vacuum?

I have a 89 buick regal coustome it wont start and when it does it dies a few minuts after. can someone help me please?

you may have a fuel pressure problem.it should be checked with a gage and it should be about 35lbs pressure and also have the volume checked as you could have good pressure but not good volume.this sounds like fuel problem.

Fuel gage always reads as full in 89 chevy camero rs. at first it would read semi accurately until it hit 1/4 tank then over a period of approx. 4 weeks it read accurately a smaller portion of the time....

It's very possible that the fuel sending unit inside the tank has failed. It has the classic symptoms of working erratically for a while then reading full or beyond full as the sender finally stops working. Hope this helps and good luck!

Gas gage is not working rite

The most common cause of a erratic or incorrect fuel gage reading is a defective fuel gage sending unit inside the fuel tank. To replace the sending unit requires that the fuel tank be removed from the car and then the fuel pump module which contains the sender be replaced.

Fuel pressure for a 89 Acura

Your fuel pressure should be 35-41 psi with your vacuum hose disconnected from pressure regulator and you can attach pressure gage at the bleeder vent on top of the fuel filter make sure your pressue gage is intended for fuel not air.
