I have had the starter, alternator, and a new battery installed in my 1997 Nissan p/u 2.4 automatic and it just gives one click and won't start. the headlights don't dim and all accessories work. what could be wrong?

Hi george, before I can possibly answer it would be helpful to know... did you replace all 3 items mentioned in order to try to fix this problem? In other words, was this "one click" problem present before replacing the parts?

Your ignition switch should be fine, as if it were not functioning properly you would not even get a click. It only supplies very low-amperage 12v to the starter relay, which I suspect is your problem.
I believe Nissan's pickup model has the relay on the passenger side of the inner fender. It is most likely the defective relay that you're hearing the "1-click" from.
I'm also assuming the new starter has a new starter solenoid on it, and not simply the old solenoid re-installed on a new starter.

I installed a new alternator, batter, and starter in my 1997 Ford Expedition and my truck wont start unless you hit the starter. All the wires are good so what else is there to check?

Sounds like you still have a bad starter. You can get a bad one from the parts store. Go back and have them test it. Or could be cylinoid.

My 97 Pathfinder won't turnover. It clicks, it gives one push but then does nothing. It starts when I jump it and after it's charged for a while, but when it's been sitting it's like t

could be poor connection from battery to battery cable terminal. take off both pos. & neg. battery terminals, clean & reinstall, making sure there is a tight connection. if the cables are loose (even just one) or if the battery cable seems degraded with corrosion, they should be replaced. could also do a load-test on the battery... it should stay strong under load, and shouldn't drop to below 11 volts under load. if it does you have a bad battery, even though it may seem good otherwise.

2008 sl awd Nissan Rogue, won't start Battery seems to have power making a clicking sound may be starter, having hard time finding starter location.

Know this problem was posted several years ago, but having same issue with my 2008 Nissan Rogue. We've tried everything short of having the battery replaced, (including charging it), and nada. So, tomorrow morning, that'll be our next move. Sucks, but best thing to die. Much rather than than an alternator, starter or solenoid.

I have a 1990 Nissan Sentra my alternator, starter, and battery are new and it won't start , but when i touch a screwdriver to the cylinoids it will start bt i dno't know were the problem is

If your positive that the battery is fully charged and has been load tested,, then your ignition switch may be bad, if the relay is clicking that would mean its getting juice, I would strongly suggest that you have the battery checked,, with all those new parts,, it all leads back to the battery not carrying the amps it needs , if the click is heard at the starter relay

After changing the starter and alternator and installed a new ignition switch my 1997 Nissan p/u started up fine. Drove it around town, stopped, turned off the engine and it started again right away. Drove...

Check and make sure you are getting power to the ignition switch and to the stator wire on the starter. Turn the key on and and measure the volts going to the starter on both wires. You should a atleast 12 volts going to the stator wire and to the main wire from the battery. If you are not getting power there it could be a fuseable link in the power wire from the ignition. I noticed that you replaced the ignition switch make sure the rod from the key switch has not come out of the switch.
