Check for pressure at the back of the filter. If pressure is there, check after the filter. If no pressure before the filter, replace pump. If there is pressure before but not after the filter, replace filter.
Your vehicle does not have a serviceable fuel filter. The 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines that are available in this vehicle have either a fuel pump module or a strainer, both of which are installed inside the tank with the fuel pump assembly. I would not worry about changing or trying to replace these parts unless it is absolutely necessary, and if this is the case, then it would be a great idea to replace the entire fuel pump assembly while you have it removed from the fuel tank.
The fuel
filter
is located in the gas tank. You have to take pump out of the tank to
change out the fuel filter . If you're going to replace a fuel filter make sure you have the right tools to do
the job (Don't use a screwdriver to pop a pressure clip
connection) And pop the gas cap before you pull the filter... It's better
to get a drizzle of gas than to get a pressurized shower.
Start by changing spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, even oil and oil filter as the engine smells how clean the oil is with oxygen sensor for starters.Check electrical connections and hoses for tightness,if its not running well run a big dose of fuel cleaner through the petrol tank and give it a good run, check ignition timing(if you can)otherwise if its running poorly, get a mechanic to attend to it to diagnose it properly and easily
Go to the autozone website at autozone.com and register your car. It's free and you will have access to an online repair manual for your car. The procedures for changing the fuel filter on your car are there. ( I checked). Hope this helped and best wishes.
