maybe a clogged filter.. why 2 months? it has old gas in it..gas does evaporate to a degree..looses some of its power creating capability.. the mtbe additive is an extreme evaporative.. it will evaporate out very quickly.. remember all fuel tanks have a vent tube on them..
hmmmm tough one without putting it on a diagnostic machine, I would suspect the crank sensor or the distributer issues not sure of the year of your car, whether it is carby or efi, if carby model, then possible blocked jets, {recon it}, i would get it on a diagnostic reader to be more accurate, hope this helps a bit. CHECK FOR BROKEN LOOSEN DRIVE BELT.IF DRIVE BELT BROKEN YOU WILL LOSE POWER STEERING, WATER PUMP AND ALTERNATOR STOP TURNING IF LOSE DRIVE BELT. IF DRIVE BELT BROKEN.CHECK FOR FAULTY DRIVE BELT TENSIONER.LOOK FOR SEIZED WATER PUMP, ALTERNATOR OR POWER STEERING PUMP.REASONS DRIVE BELT BREAKS.
Have a look at the intercooler pipes if the expand once you press accelerator if they do very little you need to check if there is no oil build up inside, if there is than you will have to get your intercooler and pipes cleaned or replaced.
it could be many things, fuel filter may be clogged or fuel pump is weak and not pumping enough fuel preasure or may need a tune-up. may have arching coils or plugs,
if your vehicle slows from 70 downto 60 with no change in revs ,then the transmission is slipping .. imust say i dont believe that the speed drops back without the revs dropping down too, i am not calling you a liar ,i`m saying you are not making accurate observations , and without those we are just guessing .
the fuel must be adjusted ,it loses the torque, when press the accelerator ,the engine need more torque when moving the car on 1st gear,compare on the motorway,check for the fuel man ,this will affect the engine on long period
