This is an automatic transmission question?
the question needs to be stated as to a gear or if the A./T TCC lockup clutch is dropping out.
to learn that is hard. to explain, it is felt, get any mech
to tell you. he must drive and it feel it.
dropping out of Overdrive from 4 to 3 gear
or the clutch unlocking,
2 different parts sections of the box do that.

SOURCE: 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Problem

I would start by checking all the fuses under the hood.
There is a fuse called IOD which the factory leaves out and gets put in at the dealer.
That fuse could be bad.

SOURCE: 2005 jeep grand cherokee radio

It's in the engine compartment IOD#2. It's a black module with two fuses in it. Take that module off and replace the 20 AMP one.

SOURCE: Eject navigation disk in 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Under the cd slot you will see a long thin rectangle that can be gently pryed out with a knife tip on the right side of the rectangle. under that cover there is a small button. push that and out comes the nav disc. Voila solved

SOURCE: I'm experieince intermittent starting . One day the jeep will crank & start, the next day when I attempt to start it I get nothing.

Its the starter solenoid. Remove 2 bolts and the lead wire and pull the starter out. most local parts stores can test the starter for you, but if the problem is intermittent it might not show up during their test.

On my jeep, after pulling the starter, I disassembled the solenoid. The actual failure of the solenoid was the electrical contact. I cleaned off the corrosion and have had no problems for 40,000 miles.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The drop down

There is a little plastic bracket inside, that also has a metal spring that is of poor design. Try tapping the cover to release in frequent intervals, this should cause the door to fall. Once the door is open, inspect the spring and lubricate the edges and spring contacts with WD 40 that is applied to a clean rag or cotton swab. This should help. I have the same problem with my 2007 Grand Hemi.
