This is an automatic transmission question?
the question needs to be stated as to a gear or if the A./T TCC lockup clutch is dropping out.
to learn that is hard. to explain, it is felt, get any mech
to tell you. he must drive and it feel it.
dropping out of Overdrive from 4 to 3 gear
or the clutch unlocking,

I would start by checking all the fuses under the hood.
There is a fuse called IOD which the factory leaves out and gets put in at the dealer.
That fuse could be bad.

It's in the engine compartment IOD#2. It's a black module with two fuses in it. Take that module off and replace the 20 AMP one.

Under the cd slot you will see a long thin rectangle that can be gently pryed out with a knife tip on the right side of the rectangle. under that cover there is a small button. push that and out comes the nav disc. Voila solved
Its the starter solenoid. Remove 2 bolts and the lead wire and pull the starter out. most local parts stores can test the starter for you, but if the problem is intermittent it might not show up during their test.
On my jeep, after pulling the starter, I disassembled the solenoid. The actual failure of the solenoid was the electrical contact. I cleaned off the corrosion and have had no problems for 40,000 miles.
