Depending on the model of truck , it could be the throttle body that causes poor acceleration ,could be the fuel filter if the engine starves for fuel it will affect the performance , yo should check fuel pressure and volume on the fuel system ,it could also be the eger vavle most newer trucks and cars have linear eager vavles and if the stick a little open on idle they can cause surging ,poor acceleration even missing . if the check engine light is on find out the codes and go from there . on older models it could be the TPS or the IAC v, but i would need to know what codes are in it first . It could be as simple as bad fuel .or a vacuum leak

Was having a slight hitch when accelerating up hills then the other day my cat got red hot and it would barely run, now i fixed the cat problem but it wont start, any tips?

When the engine really got hot is there a possibility you may have over expanded some parts and now the engine is sort of tight and is not spinning fast enough to start.

My 01ford focus zetec lacks power on hills and accelerating. New gapped plugs, coil and harness, MAF sensor. Have new EGR, keep swapping old and new, improves performance temporarily.

check fuel pressure with a gauge as well as fuel volume. pressure should be around 35 lbs and the volume should be about 1 litre in 30 seconds. if its not then this can cause poor power going up hills and accelerating. how long has it been since the fuel filter was changed.

Power surging when accelerating

Fuel pressure Normal range is 35 to 70 PSI. Without the proper fuel pressure needed the vehicle surges and looses power especially goin up hill and at WOT(wide open throttle) . Its a good call if you change full filter your going to any way. you got a surge going on. Also check the airfilter once that plugs up it will also cause the surge. Surges happen when it lacks something so your getting less of some thing

2005 dodge neon, it has been jerking lately whenever i push the accelerator or the car has to go up a hill, or when im parked or stopped at a red light, has roughly 107,000miles on it

Hello,
Here are 3 very common causes for the isuues you're having.

1. Dirty air filter.
2. Faulty MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor.
3. Faulty oxygen sensor.

These 3 things prevent the on board computer from determining the proper fuel/air mix ratio, and leads to symtoms like, poor acceleration, poor MPG, loss of power, fack stalling, and stalling.

I hope this helps you.

1992 4 runner 4 x 4, I think it is already passed 150,000 miles.the pistons and rings are lose and are leaking, the pressure probably low, try to use some oil treatment, I used Market America special oil treatment and got a very good result. you can set to 19 degrees and add some of those treatment see the result, this is cheapest way, just try it, because I can not test drive your car and check the engine pressure.
Please be sure go to MarketAmerica.com and check it first.
