Why is a black powdery residue is all over my 2002

left front wheel speed sensor is more then likely due, to a malfunction sensor for the abs sensor, badly connected sensor, or wiring, or contacts corroded or damaged, the knock sensor is usualy do to a fault sensor at the crank shaft where the timing belt is due, this is also more then likely to your engine turnover problems and is just coincidence when refueiling

There are several causes for this, including the above.
Check the spark plugs and coils/wires. Lose or worn parts can cause this. If the spark plugs have thick black residue, you have an oil leak. A flat black powdery residue is too much air. A thick crusty white/yellowish residue would be a coolant leak.
If it is blowing blue or white smoke when running, the you have an oil (blue) coolant (white) leak that needs to be fixed. Normal smoke is grayish in color.
Check all the vacuum lines as a leak may be the problem.

Pull the top cover off,you will have a COP (coil on plug system) remove COP and there the sparkplugs.

If you are talking about the brakes, then try to replace the masrter cylinder.
