SOURCE: 1997 Gmc yukon fuel relay switch continues to burn out

I would have to check the fuel pump with a scope to look at the pattern and check the amps it is drawing . the grounds need to be checked and the pcm checked and reflashed. on the fuel system that would affect the fuel pump and relay to where it would burn it out is grounds , pcm , fuel pump , fuel pump relay. so you should convince them to replace the fuel pump and fuel pump relay under warranty and replace the pcm . and get a diagram and check all grounds. If the pcm is damaged and the current has been affected and instead of say a 5 volt or 2 volt signal it now has a 13.5 volt signal or if a ground is out then the temp of the relay will keep rising non energized a relay is about 99 energized it is around 140 you can check to see how hot that relay is getting. and if i remember correctly you want the pcm drivers checked.

Check your ECM fuse. There should be 2 fuses for your ECM. It's the ECM that controls the function of the fuel pump. Good luck friend and it's also common for the wire harness from the frame to the fuel pump to go bad due to corrosion from the bad weather we get in the winter and rainy spring and fall.

SOURCE: do you have to drop your tank to change fuel pump

Yes, you will need to remove the fuel tank. Replacing the fuel pump is a pain in the *** if you've never done it before.

Need to locate fuel pump fuse for a 2002 yukon replaced relay and it starts but eventually dies out

If fuse was bad it would not start at all, definitely not the fuse, running for a while usually means that something gets hot, and thermal switch kills it.

My 2002 GMC Yukon 5.3 Ltd flex fuel won't crank if it's low on gas and on a hill. This was happening when I first purchased the truck from Carmax. They said nothing was wrong but now anytime it low it...

Fuel pump or ? pump relay, or lots of dirt at Buttom of tank. My money is on the relay. A clogged filter could cause this but then it would happen all the time. If your going to keep this vehicle for a few more years I would replace pump, relay and filter. Then I would purchase fuel injector cleaner and put a bottle in once a month.

99 yukon 180,000 mi. doesn't start. cranks forever, but won't start. Should I be able to hear the fuel pump when I turn on the key?

yes you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for about 5 seconds once the key is turned to the on pos. check to make sure you have spark. if you do try having someone spray air intake or carb cleaner into intake manifold while you crank. If the truck starts right up for a second (or stays running as you keep spraying) Id say you have a bad fuel pump and id change the sending unit also. (First check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay) GMC and Chevy are nororiously known for having bad fuel pump/sending unit problems. I have prob changed over 60 myself.

Good luck and hope this helps, there is a fuel pump relay in the glove box behind a rear panel to the left corner in the box. The relay i believe is the middle one of the three.

There isn't any fuel getting to my truck and it won't start

No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.
