Engine and transmigration was totally rebuilt, and has about 1500 miles on it. i install the 1406 edelbroke carb with aluminium performance intake. pretty much everything is new on this engine. Everything was working great with no bogging down or anything. However, the Van sits around alot and does not get used mush, but i do start it once every couple of weeks or so and have fresh fuel in there at all time. I also replaced the fuel filter just in case that was bad or dirty. I also replace the distributor(which was new from autozone), just in-case it was not advancing. in addition, i checked the timing to make sure is not off, and it is at 8 degree before TDC. I rented the fuel pressure tester at autozone and it was tested at 10 PSI. and its still doing the same thing and bogging down under fast acceleration. (IT DOES NOT PICK UP AND GO, like it was just few weeks ago). not sure why suddenly this is happening, with out any changes or anything. everything was working great with out any issues. it even idols good and accelerate in park, ok. this problem is under load, in slight uphill(my neighbor hood streets). everything seems to be ok, from what i see. not sure what else could be at this point.

My problem was solved when I repaired my 4 wd activation dash switch. The switch was contacting on 2WD & 4HI at the same time. The front differential activation is vacuum activated possibly creating a tug of war that didn't actually engage it but drained off vacuum from the engine? A theory at best but stumbbled across it because I knew the switch wasn't working properly I repaired it and low and behold rough idle disappeared and all is good for 3 weeks running.

I'd have a fuel pressure test done to be sure, it isn't fuel related again. Takes 5 or 10 minutes so cost should be minimal. The other thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust. (catalytic converter) Quite possible on a 10yr.old vehicle.

vacuum advance working ? do manuel check with cap and rotor button off and see if it's moving. chris
SOURCE: engine cuts out or bogs down when accelerating
if the engine light is flashing, it means you have a misfire in one or more cylinders. it is most likely plugs or coil wires.
mine started doing this a few weeks ago. finally got around to changing the plugs today. the cylinder order on fords is easy, passenger side from front to back is 1234, driver side front to back is 5678. my number 4 cylinder had a plug that was collapsed. the metal piece was crushed into the contact, not allowing any spark.
