SOURCE: Running hot
Hello, I would check and see if your thermostat is placed in the right position first off. I then would check and see if your radiator has some blockage in it. Try flushing your radiator and this may resolve your heating issue. If it is to blocked you may need to replace your radiator. I would check your temperature sensor fan, your fan clutch or fan control relay. Autozone runs free codes for your vehicle and that can pinpoint your problem normally. I would run a differn't temperature guage to see if your radiator temp is differn't than your gauge in your dash becuase this may be your problem as well just a bad gauge. Have you by chance ever ran any engine stop leak in your vehicle. Your overheating can come from an oil issue as well. First check your oil level and if this is fine you may have a dirty oil pan sump pump screen or your oil pump can be bad as well. Some thermostats from auto stores are faulty and open only partially. You can very carefully put a thermostat in a vice and add heat to see if it opens or not. I would also check and see if your oil filter is clogged. Oil issues can cause overheating as well. If the head gaskets were replaced something may have fallen into your water jackets in your block and they could be trapping coolant. Make sure your antifreeze is mixed 50/50 too. A reference to an auto manual can help troubleshoot exact problems for your vehicle as well. I hope this solves your problem!

OHV engine. I have seen these wear the blades off the waterpump. Does the heat work.
SOURCE: 99 deville head gasket leak?
A head gasket leak is usually indicated (among other things) by continous overheating of the motor, and subsequent loss of coolant.
It can also be indicated by the presence of engine combustion gas bubbles in the coolant resevoir.
Ensure the coolant system has no external leaks, such as faulty hose/s, radiator etc.
Ensure motor tune or other motor mechanical condition is not the cause of overheating.
I assume the motor is actually running hot.
Check cooling fans are operating ok (as necessary when car warms up):- if not check
1) fuse,
2) relay operation,
3) heat sensor switch.
Check/replace the thermostat,
Check the coolant pressure cap is serviceable & of correct rating,
Ensure cooling system is correctly filled, bleed off any airlocks as necessary when re-filling,
Ensure radiator hose on suction side of waterpump is not collapsing at engine revs above idle (due softening),
If the motor has been severely overheated, the head gasket could be blown - look for combustion gas bubbles in the coolant resevoir.
Testimonial: "thx..my car is not overheating.only had to pull off road once.it does get to 233 sometime."

You replaced the head gasket but did you get the head or heads checked for cracks or check the block for warpage?
