You havn't said what the vehicle is , but yes i would assume it has something to do with the suspension , either the shock or if has rear springs maybe a weak/broken spring , easy to get repaired

This is more likely to be a snapped or damaged spring.
Get it checked out immediately by a qualified mechanic, as it can be very dangerous. If it is a snapped coil spring, it could fall out completely when going over a big bump.

SOURCE: rear air suspension is not at level left is higher than the right

I have the exact same problem but my Left side is "Lower" than the right side.... Go Figure, Let's switch Solenoid's... Lol. I haven't seen a fix for this yet... there is 1 ride height sensor bolted to the rear but it's for both sides. the following site seems to be recommended by most Expo owners on all of the ford forums.. Check them out.

Where is the location of rear shock leveler

Put rear of car on stands, look at rear axle on both sides near shock lower mount. You should see a small metal link and rod which goes up to the switch.

Without knowing where the noise is coming from, you won't have much luck fixing it. If it happens when you are moving you may have to get someone to stand next to the truck and listen.

Instructions for replacing shocks & struts

Ok first off if the vehicle is equipped with air ride you need to turn the air ride off or you will blow out the rear bags when the rear is off the ground.

For the front Remove the wheel. Take off the upper shock nut. Now remover the two lower retaining nuts. Compress the shock and pull it out. Install in reverse order. Before installing the new shock push the piston completely down and allow it to return. Do this 2 to 3 times.

For the rear remove the wheel support the rear end with jack stands at the jack points. Now use your jack (not a scissor jack) and place it under the rear diff to support the rear diff. If you have another set of jack stands use them and support the rear axle as it sits.

Remove the lower shock bolt. Now remove the two upper shock bolts and the shock will come right out.
