1. does the starter turn over from the key but the engine doesnt turn

Unlikely! Crankshafts dont generally 'go'. Most likely is the starter solonoid is not firing and engaging the starter into the flywheel. Take the starter off and try operating it alone. Equally check that the cam belt hasnt snapped/shredded.
